AAP I have used summit for tint, not that good but I did check your other posts to see if maybe you could be a reliable souce and you recommended someone else and said the other company did your families cars, so which is it the north shore or summit company that did your families cars for the clear bra? No offense I had a bad clear bra done a few years ago in Akron on the advice of someone on a forum and I wish I never wasted my money, not only was my paint cut but the film looked so bad in a year I had to take it off. Maybe I will get it again after I figure out how to get the freaking swirl marks out of my black paint.:geez

I just had my Audi tinted at Summit Sound...work was done quickly 2.5hrs but carefully, computer cut sheets made perfect matches to the windows...only complaint would be a lot of water stains on the rear seats and on the door panels that they did not clean up.

Also Twista just completed an exterior detail of my car and his work was phenomenal. If any of you are thinking about getting more experience with detailing work then he`s the one to follow.

Actually is a little bit of both ...

North Shore did my Corvette, my dad`s Truck, and my Acura`s Clear Bra`s

Summit Sound did my mom`s Nissan, cousins BMW and VW Passat`s Clear Bra`s

Tint was done at the same time as each Clear Bra, for remote start, all except the Corvette was done at Summit.

Both are A+ places but always soo busy that I just go to the one that has the first appointment available on my schedule.

As far as clear bra, I have never had it done on Black, but I will say that on dark cars, the Venture Shield is much better, by dad`s truck is dark grey. and the Venture looks decent after 2 years (with winters).

    Overall I would say:

Northshore > Summit for Clear Bra

    Northshore = Summit for Tint

Northshore < Summit for Electronics Install

Sorry for misrepresenting my position ... the work done at both shops is over the past 3 years ... most recently, my Corvette`s Tint+Clear Bra in March 08 at Northshore.

what are the prices like on average for a ventureshield or clear bra installation on a typical front end setup (bumper, headlights, partial or full hood). Is Northshore and Summit similar in pricing?

It all depends on the car ... on my Acura it was $350, on the truck it was $425, on the Corvette it was $1500 (i got a whole lot more coverage than the other 2 cars).

Call both up and ask, talk to Roger at Summit or Marco at Northshore, they are the owners of each respectivly.

Northshore is a little more expensive, but they use VentureShield, where as Summit uses ClearShield (a much lesser known brand). But the price difference is usually under 5% ...

What you really want to do is find out who has worked on your car before, that is key, Summit get`s more "run of the mill" cars vs. North Shore who is more high end, so if you have a Merc S Class, Northshore is your place cause they have probably done it beofre.

Anyone in the cleveland area know a good body shop guy. My friend tapped my rear bumper and it looks like the paint it cracked, and I need to know about how much it would be. If anyone suggest someone that might be able to look at it I would really appreciate that alot.

    Thanks in advance

    Hey guys.

I am new to the detailing scene. I live downtown Cland and drive a black 2008 g37s. I bought a bunch of chemicals and a UDM. I tried to polish some swirls out this weekend but can`t seem to get rid of the micromarring that is left. This is despite using a softer pad and polish.

I need some advice/help on licking the problem. My inventory is below. Any experienced people care to take a look or show me some technique? Of course, I would buy beer and food. Maybe we could get a group together for a few hours one weekend.

    Thoughts?

    UDM

    Das Pads

    Optimum Polish

    Poli-Seal

    Red Moose Machine Glaze

    Danase wet glaze

    Opti-seal

    optimum spray way

    ONR

    also: towels buckets and such

    Todd,

Welcome!! And I`m sorry that you live in Cleveland with all of Us! It`s not the greatest city, but anyway...love the G37`s...but being black, its going to be really tough to keep it clean. Some polishes tend to finish down alot better than others, but what was your process..that will help us try an figure out a solution for you. If you`ve never done it before, don`t get upset that it doesnt come out as you imagined...its all about trial and error, at least thats hows I learned.\

Your product selection is great...Optimum Line is very nice, and user friendly.

I would love to get together with locals and learn different techniques...but I dont know anyone else down with it.

Anyone thats near, I encourage them to come out and watch and learn. Your more than welcome to do the same if you want...

    Let me know!

    Thanks

    Here are the steps.

ONR with MF towel and then a MF bug remover sponge

Clay – I think it is Meguires with ONR lube

    Optimum Polish wi/orange DAS pad

I did this again because I hardly cleaned anything up

Saw micromarring and fairly good swirl removal

    Poli-seal with green pad

When I couldn’t get rid of the micromarring I tried:

OPolish with the green pad thinking maybe the softer pad would help.

Then I got really frustrated and gave up with the intention of posting some Q’s and maybe getting a better finishing polish.

After further inspection, there are still some swirls and micromarring. I did enough polishing that I was worried that I would remove too much clear coat. (this is probably just me being overly cautious).

Anyone else interested in meeting somewhere for a few hours of detailing?
