Are you talking about the white spots on the aluminum parts? If so that is oxidation caused from the harsh chemicals they used on the engine. The best thing to do is try a metal polish. What I have done in the past is lightly wetsand those parts and polish them using a good metal polish and a dremel with polishing wheel. You can get them looking like chrome if you wanted to.

i do not have experience in using polishing wheel on engine parts.
Dude just clean it with WD40 and spray it with CD2, my 90 GTZ does that and thats how I treat it. And don`t drive you car in the winter the salt dust will collect in every nook and cranny, and turn the heat up in your garage.
