I`m a noob, sort of. I would like to attend a class where I can learn more about detailing. Until then, I wouldn`t mind paying someone to teach me this winter. I live in Lansing.

^ good to have you Ronnie
I just bought a 2010 Volkswagen GTI. I love the car, it is just amazing. I always dreaded the thought of buying a brand new car right before winter, but it happened. I don`t know much about detailing, I want to, I get totally geeked out over reading and seeing the stellar work people perform on their cars. Especially bringing old and worn ones back to life, the diamonds in the rough that come out sparkling and renewed. I bow to those with the skill to detail so well, it is a thing of beauty.
What brings me here is that I am not one of the detail-inclined, and while I would love to, I just don`t have the ability, time, or materials to get this new car winter-ready. So is there any detailers near or around Washtenaw county that have the time to put my new GTI on the books for a clay bar/wax job? I mean, its literally only 2 weeks old..but its journey from Germany to the states two months ago, and the cold weather that has snow right around the corner..she needs to be taken care of. I trust what an experienced detailer suggests should be taken care of, but I am, from what I have researched, mostly looking for her exterior finish to be treated with a clay bar and whatever comes after that..polish and wax? I don`t know, you tell me.
So detailers @ or around Washtenaw county, let me know if you have the time for a new car job. If anyone can recommend a local shop, please let me know, I would appreciate it.
Thanks, all.

Welcome Michigan newbies.
Hoey,
I already responded to your other thread, and aside from that: Welcome to the Autopia.org community!

I am a tip of the mitt person. Up in Boyne City, i am from farther north but I love snow and moved closer to the snow belt :) There is so much to learn, where to start? I search for method threads but I am a hands on person. I learn more from watching and doing than reading about it.
Welcome fellow Michigander :wavey
Is there any plan of doing a meet? I know there are a lot of people in MI but any chance of meeting at someone`s shop or in a general area, like sleephy Hollow park and see eachothers work and rides? I would love to get some hands on training too, there isn`t much that goes on in this area for good to proffessional detailers.
Anyone talk to Rand (Coupe) anymore? He just kind of dissapeared once he had his baby.
Yeah, I use to enjoy reading Coupe`s posts. I PM`d him a few months ago and he didn`t reply.
Michigan new guy here. Well, new poster anyways. Long time lurker. Located in Ann Arbor, MI.
Hey everyone! I was referred by Marc!
