Regarding the amount of polishing it does, with 0.5 being Autoglym SRP and 10 being a heavy compound, where would Ultrafina be on this scale?

I love this stuff. I don`t know about the cutting power. I have only used it as the 3rd step in my polishing process. I`m often tempted to skip this one when polishing but then do it anyway and am always happy with the results. Step 2 from 3M looks really good and does an outstanding job getting rid of any holograms; but, the Ultrafina really amps it up.

for all practical purposes there is no cutting power to Ultrafina. It`s a nano polish meant for the very last stage before sealant. If autoglym is a 0.5 UF is more close to 0.2 if there is such a thing. It`s a great product to use in it`s intended purpose and is still a must have in my stable of select products.

If it can remove light swirls, it must have some amount of cut right? Where are you reading that it`s a "Nano Polish"?

So, technically, if both were put on a rotary, you`re saying the AG would cut more than the Ultrafina?

Sorry dave I mispoke. The rep I talked to always called it a "nano" polish but we know how those rep`s can be right I don`t see anywhere on the lable though that calls it that. And bluBrett I honestly don`t think the difference would even be noticeable.

UF has more cut than FP II. I can say that with certainty. UF removed marring that FP II didn`t come close to removing.

jakerooni: UF has much more cut than SRP. You couldn`t be more wrong.

Not really the marring was very light. UF is very light but does have cut. It`s not as mild as SRP is as some are suggestion here though and it has more cut than FP II which is generally considered as light as you can go with a polish.

I did a side by side with UF and FP II on very lightly marred paint and one application of UF cleared up what 3 and 4 applications of FP II would not. Using identical pads and same machine of course.

Question: can 3m ultrafine be used with a porter cable orbital buffer or only rotary? The 3M site says to use rotary but I recall reading about people using orbital...not sure. Thanks.

Would it make sense to use UF before Poli-Seal?

i use it with flex DA and blue 3m pad and it has cutting power, BUT depends of the paint if is soft or harder. i think it does better on softer paints. a good product to have.

also need ipa or dawn wash , has oils that needs to be remove
