It’s been a long time since I’ve been this impressed with a product.

Re: My opinion of the G9

Mike - thanks for your thoughts on the G9.

I’d previously been having long-throw FOMO, wondering if I’d be better served picking up something like the Dr Colorchip 21mm. (I’ve got 2 cars with a long way to go, but a short amount of time to get there...) But, I’d also been thinking based on my use case, a 15mm might be more versatile. Vibration level was one of the bigger things I was thinking of that was making me lean towards going long throw.

Lucked out and sold my GG6 to a coworker and was able to pick up a G9 for about $40 out of pocket. Did a quick test trunk lid w/ a standard (thick) 5.5” pad, and had the same experience you did regarding pad stalling - there wasn’t any. Only way you’d really slow it down was if you didn’t pay attention and leaned the machine over. Even with a thick pad, paired with Correcting Cream it made quick work of knocking out 90% of the defects.

Glad to hear it sounds like vibration wise the G9 is on par with a 15mm machine - did I read that right? After doing several cars, how would you say noise levels compare between the different machines? (G9, GG6, BOSS 15 or 21)

Honestly, I can`t say. The scant minutes I spent with it didn`t result in any immediate dissatisfaction, if that`s of any help. Sounds like you`ve used yours a *LOT* more!

And heh heh..if you think that "year since the Porsche" is long, consider that I haven`t done even a full-panel`s worth of correction in many years!

Hope they soon come with a compact/Ibrid-type version.

The G9 is quieter than the other machines, but not drastically. It’s a different sound because of the fan in the housing. Vibration is less than a 15.

Sounds like it has a different tone. Is vibration a lot less or a tad bit less? I use Griots 5.5`` m/f & foam pads. <3 their m/f pads btw. Many thanx for your input.

I`m keeping my Boss 15, as I don`t think this would be a wise cost effective upgrade....but it would be a great upgrade from a p/c, megs,G6 or a great 1st machine......

If a 15 is all you have, you still need a machine like this, it works better for haze prone paints, and you can apply waxes and Sealant with it.

That makes sense. I remember when I only spent a few minutes on it right when I got it. Couldn`t really determine how I felt.

Compared to you, I guess I *have* used it more!

I sometimes forget, you don`t spend too much time correcting your cars. That`s probably how it should be. With how you take care of your cars, you don`t need to do full car polishing on a regular basis. That sounds like the way to go!

There`s only so much clearcoat, and most of mine have already been polished more than they should`ve been. That "gotta make it last indefinitely" aspect is very different from dealing with, uhm...disposable vehicles. If I were trading `em often the way I used to, well... that`d be different, but they`re not building, uhm..pre-modern tech...vehicles any more.
