RUPES Diamond Ultra Fine even worth it...

    ...on hard 2004 Corvette paint?

Gonna do wife`s Vette over the course if the next week, gonna take whatever time is needed to get as good as a 60k mile black 2004 Vette could/can be.

Hit it with medium polish about 2 weeks ago and covered with Feynlab Ceramic. Nice product but starting over and gonna do it in stuff I *know* works well for my particular situation and maint. habits.

Test section shows that Flex 3401, LC Force orange and then Sonax Perfect Finish on white Force pad will certainly do the job, and be nicely ready for coating.

Wondering if anyone thinks it`s worth it to 3rd step it with Rupes Diamond Ultra Fine on white Rupes pad would even be in *any* way effective on hard GM paint?

On soft paints I can see difference with Diamond but dunno about hard paint.

I know...try it and see! Just know that if I try I`ll end up doing whole car whether I can see a difference or not.

Maybe someone with better eyes and experience with ultra fine combo would be willing to share their thoughts experiences in this particular scenario.

    Thanks...

I say no.. But try it for yourself and see how it goes.. Maybe with a stiffer pad it would be good.

It is more noticable on softer - medium / darker paints. Most time on dark.. Keramik is fine.

I have NOT tried any Rupes polish /compound with the Flex 3401 - only Rupes 21 / Mini.

I haven`t seen (to my eyes) much improvement from Diamond vs Keramik on hard / ceramic paints

At least it`s not worth the time involved if you ask me.

Of the `04 vetted I`ve done I wouldn`t call it hard nor soft paint but somewhere in between. Vw paint is a lot harder

Eh, I`ll pull out the lhr15 and give it a shot. Not sure gloss/clarity gonna get much better after Perfect Finish on a polishing pad after the M101 gets done cutting. Car has some etched water spots from back in the Zaino decade; M101/orange/Flex knocking them down some though. Too chicken to try M101 on the gray force pad.

Time isn`t a factor with this job...

At least do the hood and see if you can see a difference. On softer paints Rupes says to only use the yellow polish and yellow pad. Since this is a harder paint you may see a slight difference in shine, slight. Kind of getting into jeweling territory.

I think I`ve actually quit wandering the coating wilderness; for whatever my particular variables may be (individual application style, maint. wash habits, climate, lighting...and who knows what else) I`m gonna be sticking with Kamikaze Miyabi x 2 and ISM x 1.

Topped with Overcoat and maybe some Infinity Wax...the stuff just plain works for me.

This is my wife`s car that I put Feynlab Ceramic on a few weeks ago. Nice product (Feynlab) but it just didn`t stay as nice and clean as our Kamikaze`d vehicle given the manner in which we use the vehicles (I guess).

Some time before end of summer, I`ll be re-doing our recently 22ple`d car as well.

Not saying it`s the best thing out there because who knows what that really is given all possible variables but it`s the best for me. Not necessarily the easiest, most mindless application, but easy and mindless enough that I`ll get it right...and quit wondering `What if I had used Kamikaze on that one too..` every time I look at it.

The reason I asked was to see whether an sio2 polish like essence or gyeon primer would fit within your scheme of things.

Would certainly like to try this sometime, have read the reviews if great gloss. Just never know how it would play outside of product family.

Almost snatched some Reflect last week thinking its the equivalent of Essence without the Si content. Or is it the fillers that give Essence that little something extrs?

I agree using something within the same product family. Stick with Rupes white. It should add some additional gloss.

I tried reflect and was not really feeling it. Short working time and dust. Too much of a headache.

Looking forward to the completion of your project.

I`d give Perfect Finish a try with Rupes white pad. Those pads really worked for me on my Chevy when I used S40/ Rupes white pad.
The Diamond was hard to wipe off and way too oily. The Reflect was very nice, only dusty.

    Good Luck

I find Keramik/yellow foam a tough one to beat. I also have a difficult time distinguishing an increase in gloss from Diamond/White foam pad.

Got a few new polishes coming, may give one of those a try:

    HD Polish+
    Jescar Micro Finishing Polish
    Gyeon Q2M Polish

Or...I may just leave it. Did hood/front fenders yesterday and the Perfect Finish was working very, very nicely w/ the Flex and a LC white Force pad; by the 5th pass it was wiping off smoother than anything I`ve ever used before; heck, I think I coulda just dragged a polish removal towel by the edges across the section and it woulda wiped clean.

HD Polish + is quite very very good. This HD polish +, Rupes Keramik, Polish Angel Final polish - and Shine Supply Classic Polish are all on rotation ATM for me.

I think I will use HD+ this Friday on a friends new Audi A4 - Metallic Black
