    Festool Rotex RO90

I`m preparing to invest in a DA polisher set-up to take care of the family cars once winter passes. I`m wondering if my Festool Rotex RO90 would be a good option as the small throw, small pad (4") DA polisher to compliment a long throw machine like a Rupes Bigfoot or GG Boss DA? Anyone have any experience or knowledge of using this particular Festool Rotex machine for car detailing? Thanks much.

    HeavyB -

Before the onslaught of newer same-design-as-the-Porter-Cable DA Sander- machines even hit the market, your Festool Rotex Machine was the one to die for..

I never had one but from what I read on a couple of Forums, the people who were lucky enough to have them loved them...

With the smaller backing plate and pad, it would be a Perfect Compliment to a bigger long stroke machine as you mentioned..
It would be easy to use this smaller footprint machine specifically on all glass and moonroof polishing, headlights and tail lights, and the lower areas of plastic bumpers, etc., that are better accessed with a smaller machine footprint..
    Good luck !

    Yeah, those were legendary machines.
It would be a killer combo for sure.

I wanted a festool years ago. One went fro d/a to rotary.

For some reason I was talked out of it. I need to look up why now.
Formerly the "Best Detailer", now just Super Wax Waster Man. Not necessarily tactful, but normally right. It`s good to be da King !!!

I must admit after seeing and trying one I would never own one! It is a wonderful wood sander but leaves a lot to be desired as a paint machine. I found it wouldn`t even work a micro pad.

Well, I have one for the wood-shop already. I suppose the cost of a few pads to test out its feasibility is pretty small. Might as well go for it. Probably test it out on the B pillars and bumper of the beater. Now, to choose a long throw DA polisher...
