I`m guessing a junkyard would sell dented hoods, trunk lids, etc cheap? I want to practice with the rotary and also wet sanding scratches.

Yes, either a junkyard or a paint and body shop.. Ask them if you can go look in their dumpster place where they throw everything away...
Glad that you want to take the time to practice.. You will get better the more you do it..
