Cyclo Users Chime In!!!

Since I`ve been using the Cyclo, I`ve a lot of members ask why I switched and how it works. I was wanting others to post their knowledge of this machine along with their comments. Feel free to post pics too.

Mine collects dust mostly. I first thought that it was due to lack of adequete pad selection, so I bought some new pads, that didn`t solve it. I am beginning to think that I just don`t like the machine. IMO, a PC on speed 6 with a 5.5" low-profile pad will do more correction than the cyclo. The cyclo is a much smoother machine if you rae looking for that. I haven`t given up on her, but right now I could certainly do without the machine.

I`ve done some fairly direct comparisons and found that the Cyclo did more correction for me than the PC unless I fitted the latter with 4" pads (I used 5" pads with the PC back in the day but haven`t tried the modern low-profile ones). But I`ll say that "more power" isn`t why I use the Cyclo instead of the PC; I simply like how it handles/etc. better.



I can`t think of another power tool, of *any* type, that I like using more than the Cyclo! A lot of that is probably just familiarity (I got my first Cyclo over 20 years ago), but I simply love using the things. I`ll apply/remove LSPs when it doesn`t need doing just because I enjoy it, and (warning, more of my Autopian Heresy follows ) to be honest I don`t actually *enjoy* detailing very much...so for me to do something unnecessary says a lot.



While I`m concerned about the bad-cord issues that others have experienced, my Cyclos have been utterly trouble free (even when the older one was used in an abusive commercial environment). That`s a lot more than I can say about my PCs.



The only times I use something else are when the Cyclo won`t fit a vehicle`s contours (e.g., the XJS) or when I need the power of a rotary. Or *maybe* if I`m doing a very small spot-repair where anything larger than a single 4" pad will make the job tougher. OR, if I`m using AIO or Meg`s #5. Gee, I guess the PC *does* have its uses after all!

I purchased the Cyclo based on your comments Justin. I`ve only used it a couple of times but I like it much better than the PC already. I tend to lose patience when doing corrections with the PC so the Cyclo really comes in handy for speeding things up a bit. Plus, the power is definitely a step up from the PC. Another thing I like about it is that it`s much easier to grip/hold than the PC. Also, after I`m done using the machine, my hands and arms don`t feel like jello like they would had I used the PC. My only complaint about the Cyclo is the power switch. I feel like the switch should be turned around. Already, I`ve turned the machine off by accident because my hand was pushing "up". If ON was in the "up" position & OFF was in the down position, this wouldn`t be a problem. Overall, I`m extremely happy with the Cyclo.



I thank you Justin for testing/reviewing all sorts of different products. This is what led me to the Cyclo & many other products that I absolutely love.

My only complaint about the Cyclo is the power switch. I feel like the switch should be turned around. Already, I`ve turned the machine off by accident because my hand was pushing "up". If ON was in the "up" position & OFF was in the down position, this wouldn`t be a problem..

I`ve thought about that a lot (usually when I too accidentally turn it off ). I`ve come to the conclusion that if I`m gonna hit the switch by mistake, I`d rather have the machine turn off than turn on. If it turned *on* at the wrong moment it could lead to major headaches, as in worse things than having to turn the machine back on with a flick of my finger.



But some kind of guardrail/etc. to prevent the accidental switching would be nice all right!

Yeah you raise a good point Accumulator! I agree about it needing a guard of some sort to prevent accidental switching.

Just look at it in a positive light. Its easier to turn off with one hand when reaching.

i have not used my PC since buying my cyclo. I hate the vibration of the PC. Hurts my hands.
