So I was polishing my passenger side door and rear quarter last night (doing it in sections this time) and was using Speed 5 with Green Propel bad and Megs 80. I didn`t have very bad swirls at all, and was having trouble getting them all out in one go. After half the door, I got fed up and kicked it to Speed 6 (same pad and product), and it kicked the swirls butt. I got rid of twice the swirls (95%) in about half the time from jumping from SPeed 5 to 6.

Anybody else get this kind of jump from 5 to 6? I`ve always heard that there wasn`t much difference so never tried Speed 6......6 is now my "go to speed".

Yeah, it took me forever to correct stuff on speed 5 and I just figured that was the best the PC could do. I can see me knocking off 1-2 hours on my next detail by using Speed 6.

I use speed 6 (maybe 5) for compounding / deswirling / removing imperfections.

    speed 4-5 = polishing

    and speed 3-4 for waxing....

The one time I do correction at lower speeds is with certain 4" pads. I`m having a brain-pause at present, but IIRC it`s the orange ones that work best at 4.5-5. At any rate, you`ll know it if you experience it, the difference in behavior (vibration/etc.) isn`t subtle.

I ended up picking up a cyclo, I will tell you this, speed 6 on a whole car was killing me, its loud and vibrates your arms like crazy, if you aren`t a body builder or do this often it can be a huge pain, the handle on the front of the cyclo makes it nice for applying the needed pressure for us little guys haha.

speed 6 anytime its on for swirl removal - any compound or polish with abrasives, even 66

speed 5 for pure polishing - FPII, OP, 80

speed 4 for waxing/glazing - RMG, OGOG, 21, liquid waxes
