on the Meguiar #2 Fine-Cut cleaner, it says that i must use a rotary. on autogeek`s page, it says:

"Meguiarâ€â„¢s #2 Fine Cut Cleaner is not recommended for use with an orbital polisher or by hand application"

so should i return the #2? Or will I be ok with the porter cable? thanks!

My limited experience with #2 and a PC was not good.

I believe it needs the high speed of a rotary to work effectively.

There are better products IMO for removing defects.

What are you trying to remove? Swirls, etchings, etc.?

The "80" series is more appropriate for PC use. I like #80, but if you need something more aggressive, choose #83 (DACP).

If you use it with a PC it will leave marring that you`ll have to follow up and polish out anyway.

If want to use a Meg`s polish I agree with BigLeegr, go with #83 and/or #80.

Last year I tried using #2 by PC, Cyclo, and Rotary. First time I`d used the stuff in at lest 20 years. I didn`t like it. I agree with what the others have posted, unless you`re using a rotary, I`d pass on this product due to the aggressive nature of its abrasives and the way they don`t break down without heat.

I know some peole here use it by PC (and in at least one case by hand), and I used it by hand and by Cyclo back in the day on ss paint. But I just can`t get it to work without *way too much* marring. I sure wouldn`t use it on b/c paint by PC.

If you need something stronger than #83 or 3M PI-II/II RC, then I`ll look into either 1z Ultra/Extra or the Hi-Temp line at TOL.

Take back the #2 and wait until you have a truly appropriate product. It`s too bad that #2 is marketed the way it is...it`s sorta like the Meguiar`s equivalent of TW RC

I tried #2 with the PC about a month ago. It just gummed up and made a mess.

I used it with the rotary and it did a beautiful job.

This was on a BC/CC car and I followed the #2 Fine Cut with #83 on a PC then #80 on the PC and then #7 and finally NXT techwax. The results were stunning but it was a lot of work.

I love #2 for when it`s needed but it is thin and it slings a lot. I have also used it by hand over small areas before and got great results. But I also recommend against using #2 with the PC.
