does anyone know if you can use hookit discs on the coastal tool backing pad?
does anyone know if you can use hookit discs on the coastal tool backing pad?
also, if you loosen the handle (so its not completely tight) like 1/2 a turn, it takes ALL the vibrations out of the handle
Maybe I`m completely misreading your question, but that`s exclusively what I`m using -- the Coastal backing plate with Velcro (a.k.a. "hookit") pads. We need 4DSC to come in here.Originally posted by spetulla

i have the velcro backed pad but i dont know if its hookit or hookit II ready
I`m not exactly sure what you`re asking, but HookIt is like normal velcro and what everyone uses: Hooks on the plate and fuzzy side on the pads. Hookit II is the other way around, so they`re not compatible, and nobody except 3M uses this AFAIK.Originally posted by spetulla

If you`re asking if you can use Hookit sandpaper discs with the coastal plate or not, I have no clue. They would have to have the same diameters that`s all. I think the coastal plate is 6" in diameter so all you have to do is make sure your sanding discs are also 6".
Personally I wouldn`t run the handle not completely tightened. If it`s not transmitting all the vibrations through, then that is because it is loose and you might be hammering the screw threads this way.
you still havent really answerd my question.
i have the 6" coastal tool backing plate.
can I use the hookit sand paper with it? or do I need hookit II sand paper?
thats really all i want to know.
Please read the first paragraph in my reply more carefully. Hookit II is WIERD!
Thank you many times for this thread, 4DSC! I`m a PC n00b so this is helping me out a lot. I have skimmed through all the posts, so now all that`s left is to actually read all of them thouroughly. Great job everyone who has contributed. A definite archive-worthy thread.
You`re welcome.
I am going to have to take the time to update this thread someday though, because there are new products available and more options now than there were the last time I did an update. Nothing earth-shattering, just more stuff as usual. :lol
