white specks after compound

not sure if it was there before or some how i caused it after compounding? any idea what it is and what i can do for it? its a buick grand national that was repainted years ago. owner said it was done with 3 layers of clear.

things i have tried. polish. clay bar. panel wipe (carpro eraser). 2500 grit sanding.

this is what the paint looked like before. so it was hard to tell what was under all the swirls

Are the specs smooth. Maybe try a magic eraser

smooth. can`t feel it with the fingers or clay bar

Try a dab of vinegar and baking soda. Have water at the ready

Looks like the specs are in or under the clear since you cannot feel them. In the photo the specs are evident

You can clearly see them in the before pic. Maybe over spray, maybe pits in the paint filled with polish or wax. Hard to say for sure looking at pic.

pits in the paint. after looking at it closely. you can clearly tell it`s a crater/pit. then the compound filled it.

but how do i go about removing it?

I`ve never found a good way of doing that. If you find one please let me know.

It does look like craters and if there is enough clear might suggest wet sanding but of course that`s more costly but it`ll fix it
