Felix,
I have the 3401, using the Lake Country Inter-changeable backing plate system that use 4", & 6" backing plates. The 4" is for use with the 5" Lake Country Hybrid pads. I believe, this is the, "Dream" system.
The 4" BP and the 5" Hybrid pads are considered the best combo on the market for the Flex by many people. I suspect, that`s why it`s the "Dream" system.

EXPDetailing- I oughta try the 4" plate some time. I bet it`s one very serious defect-killer.
Heh heh, I wish. Not *too* many that I consider safe to remove (given my very long-term perspective) though, which is OK IMO as I haven`t done much correction in years. Some [individual] working in a dark environment with the right light could probably challenge me on that, but again, I won`t spare the paint for stuff that`d take such extreme inspection techniques.
Exception- The Jag just got out of mothballs after years and years in the hands of others, and that one`s a [freakin`] horror-show! Not sure how well I can fix it though, what with the old lacquer and its "story car" original build (lots of factory re-dos that are starting to *really* show). Got a real project on my hands there.
Are some ppl having issues w/ the LC bp vs the oem Flex 4.3/8th one?
At one time I think some were having issues with the ?larger? plate cracking. Dunno if widespread and/or fixed.
Flex 3401 vs 4inch backing plate system carnage
