    TriFecta of awfulness?

Well, long story short a friend of a friend got referred to me. He had his front bumper spray painted (Alot of it) + sides as well. The sides came out no problem but he told me the front bumper had been in an accident an had been repainted by a body shop. Well, I was polishing it off via rotor no problem @ about 1400 going along smoothly w/ Fg400 via rules blue pad. VERY little heat plus soaked with water an yet the paint still got the burnt/warped effect in a small area, so my question is could a crappy respray + vandalism cause the paint to essentially "loosen up"? There was almost no heat at all, so why would the paint buckle like that (It was a very small spot)? It wasn`t a problem since I was fixing a car that would have otherwise been severely vandalized but I still feel bad.

Sounds like paint twist. Poor paint work. Nothing can fix it but a re spray. More buffing will make it worse

Ouch! Sorry to hear. To my knowledge most aerosol spray paint has chemical etching agents which "bite" into the surfacr being painted. Maybe the vandalized spray paint was etched into the clear below and when you tried to mechanically abrade it away, it gave you that warped effect.

Do you normally use a rupes blue coarse pad on a rotary? I`ll have to try it out. I bet the correction ability is insane.
