The Rupes 21 is.....

FRIGGIN AMAZING!! I opti-coated my car last summer. It was my first opti coat experience and I don`t think I applied enough product AND I dont think I let it dry enough before leveling out the high spots. Anywho, with Iowa winters and no free time I gave into the urge for an easy clean car by utilizing a few auto car washes. just to get the salt off the car PLUS I had this new Rupes to learn on! Just as suspected, the auto car washes left Swirls, maring the whole package. It was making me cringe just looking at it (even on a cloudy day! So, I decided to wash the car saturday and test drive the Rupes! I washed and dried the car and brought out the Rupes 21! I used a yellow foam pad on the Rupes with optimum final polish and in 1 pass, ONE pass I had approx +90% correction! The Rupes was BUTTER smooth, the handle/hand position was fantastic, It had plenty of power and I did the polish followed by a coat of reload all in about 90 minutes! Amazing machine!` I would have taken before pics, but I truely didnt expect results this drastic from 1 quick pass with the Rupes! I`m hooked!

Agree about the Rupes. Game changer. No longer have to reach for a rotary when correcting Audis or Corvettes. And on normal cars it greatly speeds up the compounding step. Plus the finish is better.`

I also don`t think my porter cable is an XP, so this would

make a significant improvement.


What size pads do you use?


I would be happy with that unit, can use all old baking plate and pad,

plus my porter cable can stay relegated to interiors and trim.


Do you use an abrasive isolation technique?

This helped me attain higher quality correction also.

It was a gift to me, So it was "free" to me, lol.` But after using it, I would pay the price for it (seriously!!), especially with the sales online and from Kevin Brown.` Just keep your eyes pealed, I got the machine alone (with out all the pads and such) that saves $$.`

I use 6" pads that I had from my PC.` The correction I got from a quick pass on the Rupes 21 would have taken me at least two full, normal passes on my pc.` (I don`t use the abrasive isolation technique, although I have considered it).` The rupes is also considerably more comfortable to me than the PC.` and SOOOOOOO Smoooooth! Not to diss the PC, I too will be keeping mine, it was my first detailing tool!` I will just put a smaller pad on it and use it in tight areas and such (maybe do a brush on it for interiors).``

Agreed the Rupes 21 is definitely the best choice of polisher on the market. With all of the recent talk of the duetto and such i keep referring people back to the 21, because that 40% extra throw (between that and the 12) tip it over the edge in value on the diminishing point of returns scale.

As long as you treat this baby with TLC and refine your technique there pretty much isnt much in the way of paint correction you cant fix! `Enjoy it, i know i do.`

I am smitten with my porter cable also.

Just like old jeans, they still fit, but new jeans get the

job done alot nicer.
