The pictures aren`t of the marring, just the car itself. I feel that every thread needs pictures! :bounce

I recently bought a 2002 Z06 with 2700 miles on it about 8 months ago. I now have 5000 miles on it and would like to correct the paint. The paint isn’t bad at all, but it does have some light marring on it. It’s never been through a car wash or had a brush used on it, but I think the previous owner wiped it down from time to time with maybe a little dust on it. I don’t feel like the marring is that deep or severe. I’ve only used the ONR and two bucket method since I’ve owned it. I’ve read hours and hours on this site and feel like I know enough not to reintroduce marring back into the paint.

This is what I’m armed with to try and correct the paint:

    Porter Cable 7424

    Optimum Hyper Compound Spray

    Optimum Hyper Polish Spray

    Optimum Car Wax

4 6.5” Cyan Advanced Cutting Foam

2 6.5” LC Orange Light Cutting Foam

2 6.5” LC White Flat Polishing Foam

Obviously the car will be washed and clayed before I begin.

I’ve read that the Corvette clear is hard to work with, but do you guys think that what I have will achieve close to perfect results. I know I need some pictures of the marring to get a better answer…Thanks for your help!

Welcome. Great looking ride! With a gentle touch, can look better than the day it left the car lot!

I don`t know much about the optimum compounds. yes GM paint is hard. But if you`re working on it when it`s not in poor shape, you should be able to get away with a medium cut pad/compound followed by a light cut/polishing pass.

I hope that`s the case! I guess I`ll find out just as soon as my order gets here. Might have to step up to a flex if this doesn`t `cut` it.
