Griot`s G6 vs Meguiars g110v2 vs PCXP

I cannot decide which to buy. From what I understand the power and warranty from the Griot`s Garage 6" gives it the edge. I`ve been doing an hour or two of research, and everyone seems to have a different opinion. Maybe you could tailor the choice to my specific needs/usage.



Information that might help:

-I am a beginner

-I am a poor college student

-I will be using this for me/family/friends

-I plan to use this thing for 4+ years

-I need to correct(then sell) my 11 year old white honda civic with much oxidation and swirls/scratches



-Also, could you recommend me a starter kit, or possible which products/pads to start with?

G110v2 over the PCXP for sure.



v2 has less vibration and feels better in your hands. I can correct on speed 5 on the v2, what takes speed 6 on the PCXP.



Never have used the Griots.

The nice thing about the PC is being able to use 4 inch pads, which to me is advantage when you finally upgrade to something different like a Flex with just a 6 inch BP.



Either way, you won`t make a bad decision as they`re all good machines.

Just so nobody gets confused, all 3 of the machines the OP mentions will work with a small BP and a 4" pad.

to the OP - if you order the Griots, order it direct so you don`t have to go through the middleman, and they (Griots) will have you in their system if there were any questionable problems/issues in the long run...

I have both the 6" and the 3" Griot`s machines and I`ve been extremely impressed with them both.



I`ve not used the others so I cannot make a comparison.

I just got the Griot`s machine about a month ago, previously had been using the PC for my DA machine. Hands down, the Griot`s polisher is the better machine. It has significantly more power, operates smoother, and seems a little quiter. Overall, I have been nothing short of fully impressed with the Griots machine. Go Griots all the way!



And BTW, I bought mine directly from Griots as well, great customer service.

I`d give some thought to the 6" Griot`s pads. Their orange polishing pad is *very* good IMO, at least as long as you don`t need something really aggressive. It`s a lot more gentle than other "orange pads".



My Griot`s 6" RO is also a lot better than my PCs, but I`d still think twice about using big pads on it, at least if you`re gonna be applying much pressure. Evenwith just a 6" pad on it, I was able to bog mine (i.e., I overcame the rotation so it merely "jiggled", same as with a PC) easier than I`d expected based on what others had reported about theirs.



I`d even give thought to buying smaller backing plates so you can use 5.5" or even 4" pads (same backing plates as the PC takes).
