    Hi guys,

I`m writing because I feel like I am doing something wrong with the PC7424 and menzerna polish, along with LC pads.

It feels like after just a few passes with the PC, I am getting dust everywhere. Is this supposed to happen? The dust is a pain in the *** to get off of trim, and it seems to also be harder to get off paint if it is allowed to settle there for a while.

Am I doing something wrong? How can I reduce this dust?

Also, on a side note, how do I get rid of the polish on the trim? I can rub it with my finger and I can get it to come off, but it takes a loooong time and I got a blister on my finger for doing just 1 spot.

What type of pad? Which polish? How much are you using?

I was using Menzerna 203S on the LC white pads (4 and 5.5 inch) and also 85rd on black pads, same sizes.

I think I was using a good amount, a few beads, but not too much. I had it spead out pretty well. Is it supposed to be used sparingly?

Humidity will be a huge factor with menzerna. I`d try less product. That was the reason for my dusting in the past.

Tape your trim - or use a wet towel immedietly

Noting that I have very little experience with Menzerna.....

Even with duststorm products (like some old-school compounds and my beloved old 3M PI-III stuff), I simply never have big issues from dusting. I alway figure it`s because a) I don`t use excessive amounts of product, b) I buff almost all abrasive products off before they`re completely dry (the exceptions are when burnishing/jeweling), c) I get *all* the polish off, it gets caught in my MF buffing towel, and I replace that MF as soon as it starts getting loaded with product, d) I work fairly small areas so that everything is easier to keep under control, and e) I`ll wash the car after using dusty products, even if it`s just a quickie job with ONR. If I`ve *really* been compounding, I`ll give it a very thorough wash, with a *LOT* of hot water and strong shampoo.

And yeah...I tape *anything* that I don`t want to worry about. I go through a lot of tape.

...what do you suggest for the polish dust on the trim of my car?

I`d try to wash it off with something pretty potent (I`m a big fan of TOL`s PrepWash, but you might try Dawn). Is this dried residue from where the polish got on the trim while still wet? Powdery/dried out polish dust oughta just wipe off
