I currently have a PC7424 with 6.5" pads/backing plate. I have a `99 `vette (hard clear coat) with a lot of swirls & RDS (it looks very nice from 6` away).

I have used Menzerna Intensive polish with a yellow cutting pads without much success...so I discovered M105/KBM, (along with everyone else) and think I now have some hope of accomplishing some real correction...

While learning/asking about the M105/205 combo, I was advised to go with a 5" pad. Could I instead use a 4" orange pad with M105 on a 3.85" backing plate?

(I already have this backing plate for use with a glass polishing kit I purchased a while ago).

I ask this because it seems that less pad area equals more corrective power.

I plan to buy a 5" plate/5.5" white polishing pads for use with M205...

So I have effectively 3 questions (and one bonus question):

1) Should 4" LC pads be used on a 3.85" backing plate?

2) Can M105 be used on a 4" orange (LC) pad for hard clear coats without becoming difficult to manage?

3) Is M205 with 5.5" white pad a good follow up for a hard CC vehicle?

4) Also, what is the consensus of pad conditioning/spurring tools for pad cleaning on the go?

Thanks!
