I already have a rotary and am very proficient with it but the reason I bought the Makita BO6040 is it has close to the power of a rotary and can handle 90% of my detailing needs, about 89% more than my ROB could and it saves me a lot of time on my details since it cuts my cleanup time down to almost nothing. When I use my rotary it sling stuff everywhere but my BO6040 does not sling at all. I also don`t have to wonder if I am leaving any holograms or go over it a second time with my ROB just for a piece of mind, I know it will be hologram free. I do not see the Flex as being more powerful just because it has a slightly bigger orbit and spins slower.

If anybody is in the PA/Del/NJ border area (Delaware County) and has a Flex and would like to get together and compare machine let me know. I would love to try a Flex and would be more than happy to let somebody try out the Makita with the Edge system on it.

The Makita B06040 has true dual-action. With almost double the power of the PC the spinning doesn`t stop when you apply pressure to the pad like the PC does making it single-action really. The vibrations are significantly lower compared to the PC also. I bought it because I wanted a better ROB than the PC, plus you get to switch it to forced-rotation mode. You get a choice of 2 modes. The Flex is a true DA machine also but only has 1 mode doesn`t it? I keep the 3.5" backing plate on the PC now for doing small or tight areas.

I did buy the super-soft backing plate for the BO6040 which made it work better in the forced rotation mode. The EDGE adaptor looks good but but all my pads are the regular type. Anyone know if there is an adaptor out there so that we could use regular 6, 5 and 3.5" backing plates meant for the PC?

EDGE just came out with a much more conveniet quick change adapter for the PC. Much stronger (like that is even required?) than the current version and alot easier to work the release.

Here is a YouTube clip from them about it.

Nice, look at that!!! That`s promising to see as I have some Edge pads that I used with my PC that have been sitting idle since the Flex showed up last September.

They make them for the PC ROB, Rotary, Makita BO6040 and now even the Flex. I have the first 3 and love using the Edge pads. I rarely use my PC anymore since I got the BO6040.
