I am going to buff a friend`s black truck tonight. He had it painted "by a friend" who left heavy buffer swirls/holograms all over it. At night when headlights shine on it the swirls are just unbelievable.

I am wondering if what I have on hand is enough, and if not are there any locally-available (i.e., Meguiars) products that will do the trick?

    I have:

    PC 7424

LC orange, white, gray, blue pads

    Meg #2 fine cut cleaner

    Meg Mirror Glaze polish

    Menzerna IP

    Menzerna FP

    Zaino PC-Fusion

    Zaino Z5, Z2

My thoughts are fine cut cleaner then IP with orange pads, then FP with white, then PC Fusion with white.

The FP should remove most holograms if they were caused by an abrasive polish or buffing too quick. If they are wool holograms you might need wool to remove...
May I interest you in my Brazilian wax?

I agree that FP should remove most if not all of the holgrams. Zpc should do it as well. It has been my experience that holograms need more application(buffing) time than product. Especially with Zaino ZPC-Fusion.

Yeah, either orange or white pad and IP should do a nice job. Depending on how bad it is, you may get away with a white pad and FP. ZPC will do the trick as well....

    Thanks for the info!

Should I even bother with IP? I suppose that depends on how it comes out after I try FP.

Also - question about paint cleaner. This truck sat outside, unwaxed, for a year. Would this be a time when paint cleaner is needed (I`m kind of hazy on when its used.)

    Thanks

As good a time as any!! Clay wouldn`t hurt a bit either. Only use IP if FP doesn`t work...

if you want just the holograms removed and a little swirl removal effect, mix optimum polish with htec or a medium/heavy compound about 70/30. yellow meguiar pads via rotary.. or da but i never tried that.
