I use 6.5" pads on my rotary as well as my PC. I feel that they are more manuverable and they save me money by not having to buy 2 size pads. I think my pad selection is one of my detailing cabnets weak points. I have 4 polish pads that are well used, one cut pad, and one finish pad that is about to fall apart. I want some new pads.

I want a wool pad for my more aggresive jobs (confused on what wool to get) and another cut pad, another polish pad, and a couple of finish pads. I want to know what brand everyone is happy using on PC and Rotary. Also, what surface does everyone prefer. Flat, VC, Wave?

    CCS

    Edge

    LC

    Sonus

    LC VC pads

Also, what wool would work good for rotary. I am new to the wool pad thing, but I find that I need something more aggresive sometimes than a yellow cut pad.

I like Edge Black Wool for extreme cutting (deep scratch removal),

Edge Green wool for swirl removal and first step on 80% of jobs,

LC flat White foam for polishing via PC

LC flat black foam for finishing with waxes and Menzerna polishes via rotary.

I personally prefer LC for foam and Edge for wool.

I haven`t used them a whole bunch yet, but so far I really like the Edge 2000 6" wool pads. They`re double sided, so at 18 bucks each, you`re really only paying 9 bucks per pad.

I love the edge/presta 8" wool, as Tim said black for heavy cutting and green to follow or green for initial use. I still like the green P2s for a follow up to wool or foam compounding. I have ordered some edge wave 6" to try.

Honestly, I`d suggest going 8" for wool. You`re not going to want to use wool via PC (so size compatability shouldnt be an issue), and I`ve found that I can work quite a bit faster with 8"... I`ve got my compounding step down to maybe an hour with Presta UCCL and a green 8" pad.

Tim, I think the same thing is going on in both of our garages. The 8" wool really kicks some butt. Do you have a metabo as well? :hifive:

Makita . It`s got a little extra power (good for boats and aluminum) but every time I hit a vertical panel I think "that metabo would have been worth every penny more:sosad"

I`m kinda partial to the smaller size, myself. Makes it much easier to do the smaller panels on some of the cars I work on.
