For those of you using the Metabo, how do you change the speed setting while under power? I just got my new Metabo rotary in, and though I have not used it yet (contemplating returning it) it does not seem conducive to changing the speed setting while working. With my Makita I like the spread the product around at sub 1000 RPMs and then turn the speed up a bit while under power - when I`ve tried starting off at 1200-1400, the prodcut does not spread very well and ultimately lends itself to sling.

Nicely build piece of machinery through.

It is possible to adjust the speed dial while polishing, however, I do not do it often. The Metabo has a delayed start that allows you to pick up the polish without slinging.

Yeah, though it`s undoubtably a fine piece of machinery...I`m just so darn used to the Makita that I`m not sure I can make the switch...it`s too bad because I love the light weight of the Metabo.

Metabo is one fine machine. I would choose it over my other rotaries as it can finish with so much more control.

PM Ron and see if he can take it.

I made the makita-metabo switch this year and will never look back. The machine is light enough that you can continue to polish with one hand and adjust the speed dial with the other. I usually can just flick it on, pick up the polish real quick and get to spreading without and sling, or I use the previous method.

I`ve also been very interested in the Metabo. I currently have a Hitachi but thinking about going the Metabo route.

I`ve been toying with the idea of picking up a Metabo also..... post back if you decide to buy one and where you found the best deal. If I buy before you I`ll do the same.

allrpotools.com lists PE12-175 for $233.90. Does anyone know of a lower price?
