    IDA University

IDA University - Educates Detailers & Car Wash Operators

The International Detailing Association will be hosting IDA University Educational Seminars at the upcoming Northeast Regional Carwash Convention and the Western Carwash Convention & Tradeshow. The concept behind IDA University is to offer quality concise informational sessions to educate detailers and car wash operators. The IDA committed to the IDA University plan in May when it was clear that detailing education was not available at the regional carwash shows.

The carwash industry has done an incredible job of bringing operators together to share information on improving wash operations. This same concept of sharing information has not been available to detailers due to the fact that detailers do not readily communicate on how they run their business. The benefit of attending IDA University is not only to increase your knowledge on detailing but to share and exchange information with your peers on how to run a successful detail operation at a carwash and detail center. Attendees will be amazed at how fellow operators face similar challenges at running their business and share solutions as to how they are successful.

The Educational Topics offered at IDA University are as follows:

    Headlight Restoration -
The Tools, Techniques & Tricks to Producing Profit -
Most operators are offering a headlight restoration service but may not utilize the best techniques to obtaining the highest quality finish. The objective of this topic is to show operators how to use the best technique to save time and produce the highest quality refinish.

Marketing Techniques To Build A Successful Detail Business for the Car Wash Operator & Detail Facility -
The concept of social media and exposure through companies like Group On and Living Social can be a scary proposition for most operators. Learn from the best on how to use these marketing avenues to seriously benefit your business.

Chemical Management Techniques to Control Cost & Understand Your Cost Per Car Usage -
How many detailers know their chemical "cost per car" or how to properly manage your chemical cost. Partnering with your supplier is the best method to truly getting control on your chemical usage. A quality chemical management plan can take the worry off your shoulders.

Solid Techniques for Proper Interior Car Care -
General purpose cleaner and a brush is all it takes? Wrong!! Take advantage of the improved chemicals, equipment and techniques to cleaning interiors.

    Industry Experts Q&A -
Exchange information and discuss your challenges with a chemical expert, a car wash owner, a detail facility owner and a master detailer. IDA University has gathered an unbiased panel of experts and fellow detailers to assist in providing quality information to improve your business.

As an added benefit IDA members and Carwash Association members will enjoy a 50% savings on the cost of attending IDA University. Fees to attend the IDA University are: $50 for Members and $100 for non- Members.

Dave, PBMG inked a deal with the IDA for them to advertise on the forum. PBMG is an IDA member. So I guess you could say it`s "authorized spam."

Interestingly, a similar deal had been inked with the "other" Autopia and as soon as they showed up over here, they disappeared on that site.

Not quite sure what to think about it all....

Certainly was a short association. I`m not sure anyone here really has a good understanding of this organization. With a total of 8 posts, 4 of these saying goodbye, it really isn`t like we were well schooled.

I think that if someone from Autopia had introduced this as a value added service, maybe the reception would have been different. To me it looked like spam, and why I posted that. Secondly had they come back on and posted / answered some of the questions or concerns that where starting to post, maybe they would have had more success. Just my .02

There is something else going on for this to happen. I do not think it was just the posts here since the IDA had been discussion on Autopia dot org for some time. I suspect financial arrangements changed.

I agree it`s about the money.

Speculation will continue until AF gives an explanation.

IMO, it didn`t make sense to offer a competitor your forum audience unless there was a financial arrangement between the parties.

    Who knows?

Yeah, I`m sure there`s a reason, not likely that we`ll ever know what exactly went on behind the scenes.

    Re: IDA University

They were pimped shamelessly on autopia dot org, by boo-dah, then apparently he had a falling out with them. They left and he went to Ban-camp LOL! I think that whole organization is geared toward car washes and those that might have a buffer hack in the corner.

This quote from them "This same concept of sharing information has not been available to detailers due to the fact that detailers do not readily communicate on how they run their business"
Shows how utterly clueless they are, I guess they never read detailing forums. My biggest issue with them is paying for a "certification" after completing 10 test on-line! Are you kidding me? WTF is that? I pass a test on line and I`m a certified detailer - really? I might have been born on Saturday, but it sure wasn`t last Saturday!

So what are alot of us doing here then, don`t we share information about products and the business in hand? I think we do. I think it`s a organization to help some folks out there and I`ll leave it like that.

The one thing I don`t do is to ( say bash or put down ) anyone or organization on this forum and BTW Hi to our great fellow member Junebug!
