Unique Detail: I`m glad it was of some assisstance. Currently I am using Folex as a pretreater. This stuff will take out blood, wine, red juice, ink, etc. You can find it at Lowe`s or Target.

Re: Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning by GSRstilez

I like trying new products or new techniques on my truck before I try it on a customers car. Since my dark grey carpet does not have any stains I had no need to pretreat any spots. I went straight to the oxy mixed with hot water. I let it dilute before putting it on my carpet. Once it was ready I placed my brush in the bucket, I brushed & then I used my shop vac (not removing the filter). After my carpet dried there were some white spots left behind. This was obviously from the left over oxi. I guess I need a stronger shop vac. I don`t believe my shopvac is more then 3hp. Could that be the problem?

My 4.5 hp vac is a little too weak for the task.

hemin8r: You might want to think about a Bissel Little Green Clean Machine.

Most vehicles I do, I only need a light dilution of APC pretreated with some Folex, but when I do use Oxi, I find I need an extractor. For the main reason being that it rinses the upholstery/carpets free of anything.

I have a 5hp Rigid that I use after the LGCM to suck any remains up.

Wow, that is some nice work.. I think this is the route I might be taking cuz extractors are just do darn expensive.. What you did looks really good..

    My question?
Since used on the carpet, You should be able to do the same process on fabric seats right???

Re: Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning by GSRstilez

Oxiclean works great and I used it on household carpeting. I mixed it up in a steam machine with steam machine cleaner . I did the carpet with the steam machine and while it was still wet I scrubbed it with a scrubber ,and then I did it agan with the steam machine . The carpet came out great , considereng it is light beige , and there are a lot of kids in my house and the carpet is 12 years old, and when it was new it was cheap. As far as cars are concern I dont like to soak anything in the car so I just use a ammonia and water solution and wipe down the cloth seats and carpet with it . You would be amazed on how much dirt comes out . After it drys it smells clean , but while using it it smells bad. I understand that some people cant stand the smell of ammonia , and others get sick from the smell , so I would say do it at your own risk. A couple of weeks ago I was selling a old Nissan Sentra , and the inside was very bad , and I used the ammonia solution on it and the guy who bought it was amazed on how clean the car was considering its age.

    Just some comments:
Remember that oxiclean has a mild bleaching agent. The same steps can work well with a commercial shampoo that I find works as well. Cost would be about $1-$2/application.
I`ve used it on uphostlery and home carpets.

    Which commercial shampoo?

Yes, you are correct, there is a mild color-changing effect to this product, hence my extended "mix" time.

I compared side-by-side with Auto Magic HD Upholstery Cleaner, and to my surprise, I thought the AM worked better.
On light, gross mats, I`ll still use the Oxiclean method.
