If it is not because it was dirty, and is an "auto dimming" mirror, it may have started leaking the product inside that causes it to auto dim.

If this is the case, and that liquid goop falls on your dash or other areas of the truck, it could stain the/those areas..

I have not ever found anyone who has a better solution for an "auto dimming" mirror problem, than replacing it with a new one..

Do you know if this mirror is an "auto dimming" mirror ?

Natural condensation actually effect all vehicles but if, you car gets more condensed on outside of other cars, it means that it is comparatively colder than other cars. The best way is to maintain a perfect temperature on inside of the car and thus, ensure lesser chances of accumulation of fog on your rear- view mirror.

Re: Rear View Mirror Foggy, solutions?

I had an auto dimming rear view mirror in my 2000 impala awhile back. I put 2 10" subs in my trunk (I was in my teens, chill out lol) and within a month or two I noticed a foggy, odd appearance in the mirror. I believe the vibration from the subs cracked the seal on the mirror and ruined it.

On another note, I have heard from someone that junkyards tend to have a fixed price on rear view mirrors, auto dimming or not. The guy told me he picked up like 3 auto dimming mirrors for $5 each. May be worth checking out as a cheap replacement. He said every car that has an option for the auto dimming mirror, usually has the harness tucked up into the headliner. Upgrading is as simple as plug and play
