    Small Headliner tear repair

My neighbor scratched the headliner in her Honda crv.
She asked me if I knew how to fix it.
    figured I`d ask around...

    Hopefully its visible enough

said she was trying to get out a makeup stain, with her finger nails, ouch!

    Any direction much appreciated.

    Thanks.

I have seen a repair done to that type of tear by a restorer that my dealership uses. They basically glue in many pieces of color matched fabric and you`d never notice it unless someone told you to look for it.

However, I have never done it so, I can`t tell you how, but it is possible.

I figured some fabric glue and maybe color matched fabric but hopefully we can get just a little piece. It almost looks like you could just glue the torn piece back up there and there would just be a little tear mark.

    Re: Small Headliner tear repair

About 35 years ago my dad, who was a detailer at the time, taught me a trick for velour seats that might work for the headliner. He trimmed around a cigarette burn in the seat to remove the damaged (burned) area. Then he took a single edged razor blade and lightly scraped with just the edge of the razor back and forth on an inconspicuous area on the seat to get a fuzz ball built up. He put a drop of super glue in the hole and put the fuzz on it and leveled everything out. I swear that I watched him do the repair and once I looked away and back again I couldn`t see the spot.

It might be worth a shot.

Thanks. I could see that working. But unsure where I`d get the fuz from. Maybe a spot in the hatch area.

That part of the Headliner is really dirty just in the picture..

Not sure how anyone with just fingernails could inflict that damage.. Those things must be razor sharp or serrated edges,... Wow !

The repair talked about was on Velour which had a nap to it, so the nap could be removed and replaced...

Not sure that headliner has anything remotely close to velour.. Looks like a smooth fabric to me..

Good luck, Brandt ! Find that old guy who knows how to repair or hopefully, something on the Internet...

I heard "fingernail" and envisioned razor blade. Who knows the truth. I`m sure I will see something like this again so I am intrigued with fixing it.

I`m gonna troll Honda forums tomorrow. Super excited, haha.
