I planned on a quick vacuum...

I recently picked up a 97 Honda Civic at a great price from a friend and I`ve started to clean it up. The previous owner took great care of mechanical maintenance, but neglected the interior/exterior.

I decided to start with a quick vacuum and wipe down over the weekend but once I started, it was hard for me to stop. I kept finding years of dirt and crumbs behind each panel so I actually ended up ripping out most of the interior. I figured if I`m going to clean it, it may as well be Autopia clean.

Now I`m driving around with most of the interior stripped (#racecar) until I can introduce the Civic to the Dupray steam cleaner and Mytee extractor. At least I`ll know everything is squeaky clean once I`m finished.

I just wanted to share the current progress. I know you guys will know how I feel.

OMG, in the July Florida heat!

I assumed Florida due to the palm trees, the St. Augustine grass, and ... wait for it.. your association with PBMG

Off Topic, I`ve noticed you ride, as do I, but where? Florida plain sucks for riding.

No pain no gain! As for riding, I ride anywhere I can. I`ve heard that about Florida but luckily I haven`t been spoiled by riding in any other states. I`ve seen videos of twisty roads in other states and maybe one day I can make a trip...

Thanks! I am enjoying it! This little car is growing on me. I can see why they are so popular. Light, super easy to work on, parts and information are available EVERYWHERE at a great price, great on gas, reliable, etc etc etc. The 97 Civic on your website looks CLEAN! That`s how I`d like my paint to look after a respray (CC failure). First I`ll give it the Vega Tune Up before I send it to the paint shop. I plan on cleaning this up so I can sell it for a nice profit.

Dont forget the Timing Belt at 90k..
These are so easy to work on and maintain..

They sell all kinds of Tuner things for them - including the big Fart-Coffee-Can that makes appropriate sounds at the rear...

I have a very good friend up here that has been selling used Honda/Acura vehicles for over 20 years, and now, it is really hard to find used ones... No one is wanting to give them up...

Some of the few vehicles he has are close to 200k and looking at them, you would never know.. They are so clean, all the things that are needed to be done are done, and they are ready to start all over again..

I remember back then that when they found some that were blown up, it was cheaper to get used engines from Japan because they retire engines up there at 50k... I know, sounds crazy...

I love going over there just to look at them and see how great they still last and look at high mileage..

Yep I`m starting to research engine swaps because this one has 286k miles on it. Still runs great, and has been well taken care of. I`m the 3rd owner.

b18b1!!!!!! $939.00 for the full swap on Import Auto Salvage.

here is a list taken from Honda-Tech
    "B18 motor
    B Series Tranny
    Integra Shift Linkage
Use all D series rubber mounts(rear left right and lower torque mounts)
    99-00 B16 rear T bracket
Use SOHC upper tranny mountwith bracket
B16 side post mount (timing area)

    FOR AC!!!
use the ac bracket from a 97+ B20 CRV ac bracket
(d16 ac pump will bolt right up ICE COLD AC)

    FOR P/S
From my experience ive used both and they work

B16 Powersteeringpump bolts right and so does line
