    New car smell

My car is off gassing like crazy !!!

The car was at dealer less than 20 hours when I picked it up.

The smell has not gotten any better. It`s real bad.

I leave it in sun w top off, fine till top goes back on

I leave it in sun w windows closed to see if that accelerates the off gassing. (don`t think so) Same w windows up, same with windows open an inch.

    Any suggestions?

I think what you are doing by leaving the car as open as possible is the best way...I`ve never heard of any process that speeds up the out gassing process

    Ronny,

My sons Subaru had the same issue. It smell like new carpet or melting plastic correct? At the same time it was a PUITA to clean the windows as whatever gasses out seems to get stuck to the inside of the glass

What I did was steam the interior, and then spray it with something called Fresh Wave. You can get the consume version in Bed Bath and Beyond and I sealed the car let it sit overnight, then aired it out. Got much better. .

Outgassing can last a while. The near term is to try to mask with a scented spray. I can send you a sample of Poorboy`s Cherry Scent....it will make it smell differently for a while.

    Re: New car smell

Putting one scent over another to mask the smell sounds like a great idea!

Natural look smells great. I need to find more things to use it on so I can smell it more. Would it be powerful enough to mask the outgassing though?

    Re: New car smell

Cover it up with "new car" scent, since it never actually smells like a new car.
