You can also use an aerosol foaming A/C coil cleaner. It melts grease and gunk and rinses away. Most are paint safe.

How do you avoid soaking the interior?

A 25 degree tip is what I am currently using and I get no water on the interior and at the least a little mist on the thresholds.

You also have to be using it up close and be quick yet effective.

I have a Troy Bilt (gas unit)

That sounds really good. I`m going to give it a try with my electric Karcher, but I don`t know what type of tips I have.

Please, take me seriously about the A/C coil cleaner foam.

It`s cheap, safe and grease and gunk drip away.

For door hinges and that whole area I use one of those lambskin finger mitts from Griot`s and I just use some car wash. If it is stubborn, I use whatever degreaser I have around.

The finger mitt allows me to get in all the nooks and to put some pressure on the stubborn areas.

I then use one of those insecticide sprayer things that they sell at home depot to "hose" the area down. A gentle stream gets all the areas clean without getting the interior wet. I then wax the painted surfaces and spray some Trim Shine on any visible "black plastic."

The car wash guy won`t do that for you.

On the subject of door hinges, I wish somebody would create a new tool that is specially designed to clean door jambs and trunk jambs. The wooley`s are OK for now but I`m looking for something better.

Are you at all afraid you might be removing some needed lubrication? I have used a steamer to remove the surface grease that worked it`s way out but never a pressure washer.

I do the same thing. Spray it with degreaser and rinse it with a pressure washer. Place it close and do it some what quickly. It leaves very little water elsewhere.
