303 Fabric Guard -

Hi guys,

I bought few bottles of FG from PAC. Tested on a 4 different cars (all fabric) and all seemed to have similar results in which it does not really repel water.

I followed the instructions (vac,extractor/steam, dry, apply FG) and after 24hours, I tested it by pouring droplets of water to the fabric and visually, more of the water seems to seep in the fabric and not repel them.

edit: I did apply the product until the fabric was damp and some cars I did repeat application for the 2nd time and results were similar.

Anyone have any advise on where I might go wrong?

But what about the rest of you that have used 303 FG. Whats your take on it? Does it really repel water (and other stuff) that well?

I haven`t tried it personally, but I`m interested in the answers from others. I usually use Scotchgard and I`ve been wanting to try the 303, primarily because they make such an excellent plastic, rubber and vinyl protectant.

Been using 3M Scotchguard but was trying to look for a better fabric protector instead of going straight to Nano stuff.

Anyone else got anything to comment/experience on 303 FG?

I am not 100% sure, but I do not think that stuff is really made for carpet. I think its made more for Mooring covers, convertible tops, vinyl and plastics. I think that carpet is too plush and it cant make the water bead on top of the carpet.

As far as I can tell the 303 Fabric Guard is a outside protectant. On some interior type fabric`s they are woven in a way that the 303 Fabric Guard won`t stick to it. What I mean is they are too large in diameter for the fabric to catch the protectant. That`s way one won`t see the water repel from the fabric.

BTW, I was actually testing them on fabric seats. I don`t think its meant for plastic and vinyl as I believe the FG contains solvents which may be detrimental to them.

I`ll try to play with the variables and I`ll definitely report back.

I copied the following from the product description on the PAC site. I also purchased this product to protect my carpeted mats. I am not sure if it has been of any benefit.

"Great for protecting fabric convertible tops. Keep carpets and cloth seats stain free".

303 products will work on alot of different fabrics out there, but on some fabrics the way they woven, My take they are not very close together (woven) and the protectant hasn`t being able to grab on to the fabric. One can call 303 direct at 800-223-4303 and maybe they see why it`s not working the way it`s support to.
