Couple of things on this subject...

First, I think the product you use is important. I recently bought Simply Green`s automotive window cleaner and I found there is NO way to clean windows without streaks.

OTOH, when I use Stoner`s I have much less problems.

I also DO NOT use MF towels for my window cleaning. I`ve used at least 10 different types and they`ve always left something behind. Usually I`ll use an old cotton t-shirt (rag) for my windows. Best results for me.

The last thing I do with windows is that I do the outside windows with horizontal cleaning strokes and the inside windows with vertical ones. This way, if I get streaking or some other imperfection, I can figure out where the problem lies right away.

Good point. Have done it for so long now, it is SOP rather than a tip/trick.

LOL, I thought I was the only one on here who actually did this. :cornut:

I can`t get streak or lint free windows with MF for the life of me (no matter which one I am using), so I do a first pass with an MF and then another with the old t-shirt. Sure, it may not look professional, but it gets the job done with no streaks.

The IPA trick does work well on dirty windows, I tried it on some smoke hazed windows and it`s the only thing that would leave a streak free finish.

No substitute for newsprint and Stoners-I think the real secret is that you have to each window at least three times.

This brings to mind another topic I have been wanting to post....

hahahahha I know this `hack` who used to really impress himself by spraying the paint with water while buffing. Really thought he was doing something special.

That`s too advanced for me. In fact, when I bust out my foaming attachment to my pressure washer, I know the neighbors are looking at me like I`m some real expert... LOL... if they only knew!!!!

    You gotta try this: http://www.properautocare.com/glassscrub.html

I`ve posted this previously. If you`re not machine polishing your glass (unless it`s brand new) you`ll be amazed. Use a PC, a 4" soft pad, a little water and a nickel sized dab of glass polish. I like this one because it works for me and I think that it`s also the best value at PAC.

Whatever "routine" glass cleaning method you choose will be a lot more effective after you`ve removed the hard water marks and baked on grime by polishing.
