New interior tip - quick clean with blower

Ok, so before I get flamed, this actually worked quite well. After a full interior detail on my Pathfinder, the wife decided to take a last minute camping trip to dusty Eastern Washington. Needless to say, the kids filled the car with sand and dust caked everywhere on the interior. Upon return, I removed all the carpets, opened all doors and rear hatch, took my 120mph electric blower to one side of the vehicle and let it rip. Plumes of dust and sand proceeded to bellow out from the other side of the car. After about 10 minutes if hitting almost every spot, the car looked spotless. Even all the crevasses that I could never reach were clean. So, if you haven`t discovered the interior blower method, it works! 😀

I use compressed air all the time, you`d be surprised how much more dirt comes out compared to just vacuuming.

I believe Anthony Orosco shared this technique about 15 years ago, particularly for carpet floor mats, as I recall.

EDIT: Ha, look at this thread, from 2003. Anthony, Clean Dean, and other blasts from the past. Interior Detailing

Yeah I remember year back when I had my 99 Ranger I would use the air compressor and blow it out all the time. Did the truck for sure!

Sweet, looks like this is an old school trick - so hopefully this gives some other newer folks ideas!

Maybe I need to use the power blower on my kids before they get in the car next time! LOL

You folks must work on interiors that`re infinitely dirtier/dustier than anything I`ve ever had to deal with...work trucks included.

I have a lot of farm trucks, and crew trucks come through the shop.

I did one recently from a fleet customer that I literally used a scoop shovel and the leaf blower. Had to wear a mask it was so dusty.

Scrqapyard- Oh boy, I bet that one was really something! I`m just glad they`re getting them cleaned up (and that you`re apparently OK with doing that work)...Hope you`re getting sufficient $ for that kind of work!

The more I think about it, the more I like that those trucks are getting some attention...that`s how it oughta be IMO. Just glad I don`t have to do it!

Accumulater, it’s not my favorite vehicles to work on , but it keeps the bills paid. The good thing is they don’t expect it to be showroom quality. Just clean it up, and put it back to work, or get it ready to sell.

I`m onboard with that! Back when I was patronizing a different shop (and had different priorities ) I *LOVED* doing their Service Loaners for those exact reasons! I`d "just make it a lot better" by Autopian standards, which was "gee, lookit that!"-perfection to everybody else.

As long as they`re not *so* nasty that you`re hating the work, I`d think it oughta be a good way to make that $.

And I still just *LOVE* that those work trucks are showing up at the jobsites looking decent, it must make for a great impression (if anybody`s paying attention).
