Sprayway has a salt stain remover. There might be others. They were discussing "Whip`s Wax Salt Remover" in another thread last week but they may be intended for use on external surfaces only.

50/50 mix vinegar and warm water. Spray liberally, suck up with shop vac. Repeat until gone.

I go thru GALLONS of vinegar in the spring time when I`m doing interiors

That, though I will add "rinse *rinse* *RINSE* because IME even with the low-odor stuff it can really stink. Note that there are different dilutions of Vinegar too, not that I pay much attention to that. Good for salt on leather footwear too, and leaving leather a little acidic is good for it.

I use my steamer for this too, though that`s seldom necessary.

    Re: Salt stains on carpets

I was helping someone prep a car for sale about a year ago. They had some salt stains in the driver`s foot well area where the floor mat didn`t cover. I`ll tell ya, I went into that clean up thinking `no big deal`. I was horribly wrong - - I never got it completely cleaned up and threw all sorts of chems at it. Brutal, crusty crap!

I like Accumulator`s idea about the steam...

Steam is also a quick/easy way to get [stuff] off the pedals without having to scrub with a brush (well...scrub as much).

Steam ive found is minimally effective with salt. I just let the vinegar do the work.

I always extract the area very well with fresh water after. I actually remove the salt when doing my initial vacuum of the car then follow up and shampoo/extract the carpeting after

I gather those of you who are struggling with this are Pros, doing the interiors of vehicles that are neglected, right? I always have to remind myself how awful things are for you guys. Whole `nother ballgame compared to just keeping an Autopian car Autopian...I`d go nuts.

Very simple, hot water, rub with microfiber soaked and come behind with an upholstery cleaner. .

    Re: Salt stains on carpets

I`m curious what you Pros use on the pedals. I use both the steamer and either APC or Interior Cleaner with (usually plastic-bristle) brushes, along with a small pick to get bits of gravel/etc. out of the texture. This time of year I do the pedals (and the driver`s floormat) of mine after every use, but generally only do my wife`s A8 weekly, well...unless I`ll be driving it.

Mike lambert- Ah, I gather you don`t need the added scrubbing power of a brush, lucky you!

After doing your regimen, do you extract the cleaner/water or just blot it up?

If needed I bonnet clean, wrapping a microfiber around the brush. I then use 2 dry microfiber around the brush to dry. The Griot’s interior cleaner also doesn’t re activate if it gets wet, that means it won’t clean your shoes as do most other cleaners unless you neutralize them.

    Re: Salt stains on carpets

Mike lambert- Ah, OK..sounds like you don`t need to get things very wet. When salty water gets down deep into the fibers I often have to get extreme about it.

Hey, I somehow hadn`t noticed that you`re using the Griot`s Interior Cleaner for this, interesting as I find I *awfully* mild, so much so that I reserve it for light-duty tasks (not a slam, I too like that it doesn`t reactivate or need much, if any, rinsing).
