Carpet and Upholstery Shampoo or APC

Which do you use? Or does it depend on each circumstance? I have been using Megs APC for quite a while. Looking at some of 3D`s products but noticed their carpet and upholstery shampoo and am considering it too.

I usually use Folex for carpets and Megs carpet and upholstery cleaner (the aerosol) for seats and carpet spots if it`s already in my hand.

For carpets, I use specific carpet cleaners from companies that specialize in just carpets cleaning chemicals. ProChem, Bridgepoint, Bonnet Pro etc.

I stopped using dedicated carpet shampoos, all I use now is Meg`s APC diluted. Cleans everything well, and works on set-in coffee stains.

Griot`s carpet cleaner works great for me. The new aerosol citrus cleaner is amazing!

I just mix up the current APC I am using. I use the correct dilution for carpets. Cuts down on buying another product for carpets.

Same here (and I also like ProChem).

I generally use Carpet/Upholstery cleaners on carpet and upholstery, though some APCs like the HD green stuff have always worked OK for that when I tried them. I use APCs primarily for jobs that involve degreasing or otherwise emulsifying some kind of contamination.

Not flaming the use of APCs for this, and I`m sure that some APCs are better choices than some carpet/upholstery cleaners (some of which do more sudsing than cleaning IME...lousy cleaning power and hard to rinse out). Not an across-the-board binary situation choosing between the two groups of products IMO.

I think of Megs current APC as an all interior cleaner, actually designed for interior surfaces, including cloth/carpets whereas most(?) other APC we tend to take as ALL purpose cleaners, tires, engine compartments, etc

    From Megs description
"...Meguiar`s® All Purpose Cleaner is ideal for reconditioning all interior surfaces. The superior foaming action gently lifts the dirt away while its unique blend of fabric softeners and optical brighteners enhance the look and feel of carpet, upholstery, vinyl and even leather."

Mooser- By the sound of it, that may very well be an example of an APC that`s 100% appropriate for carpets/upholstery. Though I can`t help but mention that I have some *STRONG* reservations about how Meguiar`s describes their products as they sometimes use word in way that I find, uhm...inventive

    LOL, this is true.
I`ve been using their "Interior" APC for all kinds of stuff (hard-plastic and vinyl, door panels, dashes, consoles, etc) for over a year (maybe two, not sure anymore) and can say it`s certainly a lot less harsh as the APC I have from anyone else (Adams, CG and OPT Power clean)
Their old APC+ was the type of APC from the others but I can`t get it anymore.

Re: Carpet and Upholstery Shampoo or APC

Mooser- That`s a good point you brought up, the harshness. Some APCs I would think twice about using, even if most autocarpet/upholstery is pretty tough stuff. Now on *wool* carpets and other potentially fragile materials, those I`d be a little picky about.

APC`s have their place, especially for those who want one product to do many jobs. I agree as specific job products can focus on one job and maybe do it a bit better and more efficiently .. like .. better rinsing abiltiy
life is short ..do it while you can
