    Caring for brand new leather

This car has the Laguna leather in it (black)- its Real leather as far as I can tell- definitely not the fake leather crap in my SRT (I will put up a pic in a minute)

customer asked me I could do with it

**Just wanted to make sure there is not some wait time to condition or coat (pbl leather coating) these seats?

car is about 3 weeks from factory, 749 miles

I was thinking about Pinnacle Black Label Leather Coating

    also have

    Cquartz Fabric Coating
Pinnacle, Wolfgang and Blackfire Leather Conditioners

    Natural Look
    Leather Stuff

edit- so I found out I need a water based cleaner-- any recommendations?

back of headrest or lower side bolster of seat? prolly the latter, huh?

I will see if there is any leather that hides when you drop the seats

Yes, do a spot test first if anything will happen toward the color. However, I remember that is the general issue with light-colored leather. Meaning that black-colored leather seats shouldn`t have any issue with the color changing at all, just don`t put it on a suede type leather. That`s all I know about it

I`d also suggest Leather Masters. I absolutely love their products. No "squeaky" or greasy/shiny leather - just clean and protected and they are specifically formulated for both aniline and protected leathers, something few companies care to differentiate between.

If not an option then I`d probably just give it a light wipedown. I don`t have a lot of experience with leather coatings though.

I`ve had great results with Poorboys stuff on my leather or WG Leather conditioner but this leather is much nicer than mine

So in Googling that leather it says it`s semi-aniline leather. Use a water based cleaner and a protector.

From what you have, go with PBL.

It does look like coated leather to me as well.

just to clarify, when you guys say coated leather that means the factory put some protectant on it - does that degrade over time?

does it really Need anything? wait, did I just ask that on this forum. lol disregard

    Brandt -
You are going to be fine with the products you have -- "I`ve had great results with Poorboys stuff on my leather or WG Leather conditioner"
Its coated, its new, nothing will happen to it.. You are good...

One thing to note - some auto manufacturers will only put leather on the SEAT portions and the rest is something else - a vinyl..
Dont know how this one is done, but that is something to look out for if the back and sides dont act the same..
I would still treat the entire seat the same..

Also, be real careful with the perforated areas - you dont want to get a bunch of white stuff in all those perforations..
Wipe lightly with very little on your applicator and no pressure so you dont push it in them..
You know what Im talking about, I am sure...

This is where I use nothing but Spinneybeck Leather Conditioner from the people who tan the hides, dye them, and sell them..
I know you dont have this stuff..

Leather/Vinyl has a synthetic coating on it. Think of it as a clear coat for leather. You are essentially treating that layer.

There is always a debate on whether or not these "conditioners" do anything for the leather.

Ray has a good post in this thread.

Top leather cleaner/conditioner picks for leather steering wheel in 2015 VW Golf.

In reality a good cleaning would suffice. Sealing the leather helps at least in my opinion. Plus it also looks nice depending on the product that is used.
