Remove cleaning product residue from leather?

I have a car that I recently cleaned the interior with a mild soap. Unfortunately the soap has a preservative in it that seems to be causing rashes on my skin when I touch it. I have been able to successfully clean it off of the plastic and rubber surfaces, but the leather in the car, in particular the steering wheel it doesn`t seem to want to come off of. It seems to have soaked into the leather in such a way that a little bit comes off on my skin every time I touch it. Is there a way to clean leather such that this substance can be completely removed?

FWIW - its a chemical called Methylisothiazolinone, which despite being used in a lot of personal care products, soaps, etc can cause strong allergic reactions. Even those categorized as "free and clear" or "hypoallergenic".

    thanks

Try an APC and then a Leather conditioner / protectant .. in the meanwhile get some nitril gloves for driving
