Not a detailing (or car related at all!) poll, so I figured this goes better in here...

I use Mozilla 1.7.2 for MOST of my browsing, but still keep IE around for those few sites that won`t work with Mozilla.

I love the multiple tabs & no pop-ups of Mozilla!!

A friend recommended Firefox to me last year and it just seems to work better than anything else I`ve tried...

Some of the FireFox extensions are pretty useful, too (enhanced tabs, weather reports in the status bar, highlight a link and make a TinyURL from the popup menu, etc.). Check out the FireFox homepage for info.

Also, Thunderbird (the e-mail "companion" to FireFox) rocks. I`d only been sticking with Outlook because I`d found a Bayesian filter plugin that did a decent job (fuzzy logic for filtering spam). Turns out T-bird has a very intelligent spam filter that, IMO, works better than the plugin I was using in Outlook. There`s a link to Thunderbird on the FireFox homepage, too . . . check it out if you`re looking to get out from under the generally less-than-secure M$ alternatives.

Yea, the extensions are my favorite part.. well, and the tabs.. There`s even an extension to list what extensions you have:

    Generated Fri Apr 29 2005 01:51:04 GMT-0500 (EST)

    Enabled Extensions: (14)

    Adblock 0.5.2.039 - Filters ads from web-pages

Autofill 0.2 - Automatically fill out HTML forms

BBCode 0.3.7 - Adds BBCode to the context menu for forums like Mozillazine (PHPBB and others). Based on Cussers pastequote extension.

Disable Targets For Downloads 0.9 - Prevents download links opening a blank window.

Download Manager Tweak 0.6.5 - A modification of the Firefox download manager that changes its appearance and allows it to be opened in a separate window, a new tab, or the sidebar.

ForecastFox 0.7.1 - Get international weather forecasts from weather.com, and display it in any toolbar or statusbar with this highly customizable extension.

lget 0.1 - Allows you to initiate a direct download of a file given a url

ListZilla 0.5.1 - Outputs an alphabetical list of either extensions or themes to a text, vB code, or HTML file.

Nuke Anything 0.2 - Allow hiding of almost anything via context menu

Plain Text Links 0.2 - Treat selected plain text urls as links, right click to open

QuickTabPrefToggle 0.0.4 - Adds a toggle button for single window mode.

Tab Clicking Options 0.5.1 - Select actions for clicking events on a tab or the tabbar

Wayback 0.1.1 - Displays an archived version of the webpage.

WebmailCompose 0.6 - Makes mailto: links load your webmail`s compose page and adds a Compose link to the context menu.

I use Firefox but from time to time it does say the webpage is unavailable when I know its the browser not the the page. Anyone ever run into that? I have updatted and it still happens.

As far as the pop ups, even with IE if you use the google bar pop ups are a thing of the past for me. I cant imagine using a browser with Pop ups, they must prey on the people who cant/wont install a blocker

After reading this thread, I downloaded Opera 8.0 to see what all the buzz was about, and I find it to be......*okay*. I don`t find it to be any faster or slower than IE, but is a bit more difficult to use. Granted, I am new to Opera so I`m sure I would get used to eventually, but I think I am going to stick with IE for now.

Maybe the speed difference is noticed more with a slower connection like dial-up or a budget DSL. ??
