    Story here.

Duh! The human race will only make it worse too. People always say it won`t happen in my lifetime so why worry, but what about our kids, and their kids. I personally think that like George Carlin said when the earth gets tired of us it will shake us off like a bad case of fleas, and move on to the next dominating lifeform.

This is absolute rubbish. Read the The Skeptical Environmentalist and you will see things are quite good. The greens just have to use scare tactics to get support. Not surprised this story came out from the ultra-leftist Guardian.

Hunger and HIV are more important than this load of BS.

Wow, that was an emphatic response. HIV and hunger are indeed important issues. I just found this article, and thought it interesting. So to get an opposing viewpoint though I should read a book from the right? I guess any theory can be supported based on what statistics you choose to reference.

I would classify the Guardian as left of centre and not "ultra-leftist"

The Skeptical Environmentalist is not from the right, it was written by a former Sierra Club member Bjorn Lomborg. His statistics were compiled using many studies backed by environmentalists. The trouble he ran into is that many did not like his logical conclusions.

    Lowejackson,

On several occasions the Guardian has backed socialism, perhaps not an issue in the UK but definitely ultra-leftist here in the States.

Well, if you consider that in the USA the media comes in only 2 flavors (fanatic-neocon-ultra-right and center-right) then everything else will seem "left".
