Radar Detectors / G2 Performance Computer

Quick questions on The Escort Store`s products (formerly Cincinnati Microwave):

    (1) Does anybody have the S2 cordless LCD radar detector? I wanted to buy one, but I do have the previous SOLO red LED detector and it`s still in good shape. I was disappointed that the price of the new S2 hasn`t dropped since it came out (still $329 from the company) and I also saw it upfront in a Sharper Image and was surprised that it`s BIGGER than the earlier versions (usually, they`re the same size or smaller). The bigger size and price have me holding off on buying it.

    Anybody got one? Thoughts?

    (2) The G2 performance computer (or the less-expensive G1) -- again, anybody got it? I had one of these 15 years ago when I had my Corvette -- I remember it being alot bigger. I figure with all the microprocessor improvements, it should be smaller and better working today. I liked mine when I had it -- damn thing got stolen, maybe from the shop who worked on my Vette.

Any thoughts or comments on the G2 or G1 computers, let me know. I presume they still go on the winshield.

hondaman - i have a Valentine 1 and I love it.... it`s great to know whether the signal is coming from behind, the side or from the front. It makes it much easier to identify good (or bad) warnings.

One quick word about radar detectors I bought them all spent loads of cash the best one I owned was the Valentine 1 if you call them early in the morning Mike will pick up the phone and talk to you(the owner and inventor)here is the problem..........cops today use instant on RADAR as you get into range they flip it on and get you with no time for the detector to warn you NOt in all places but now its getting common.............................JUST THOUGHT YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW I went throught that phase and boy did I learn a lesson

    Question

Why in the world would you spend money on a radar detector?
Just obey all the speed limits and you won`t have any problems.:-p

Alan, I have never gotten a ticket when I had my Escort/Cincy Microwave products. Got the 2nd generation Passport when it came out in 1985 (had to wait a few months, it was SO revolutionary back then)...then got newer models. Last was the SOLO with the red LCD`s. Will check out Valentine, heard good things about them, but I`m pretty much a Cincy Microwave fan.

Charles, good point, but around here you go a few MPH over the limite by accident -- with the traffic flow, down a hill where you don`t want to ride the brakes, through the speed-traps of Bergen County -- and they nail you. I`m not talking about going 70 mph in a 40 mph zone, I`m talking about a 40 MPH zone that goes to 30 MPH for about 500 feet and then back to 40 MPH -- and they try to nail you during the 30 MPH stretch (Grand Avenue near Montvale, NJ, FYI). Also, you have the too-low 50 MPH limit on the Palisades, etc etc.

Just looking to be careful. No police cared what I did in that ugly 1990 Accord I had....now with a 2004 Civic EX w/spoiler, I know they wouldn`t mind pulling me over. And WHEN I get back int a `Vette, I know they`re looking at me (I`ll post stories here sometime when things are slow).

Hey, I was just jerking your chain.
When I travelled a lot, I had a radar detector, a CB radio, and a police scanner. My wife always said it was like riding in Dr, Dooms car with all the hardware. Didn`t get nailed often, but when they see all that stuff, you don`t get any warnings!

Hey, if your car was Dr. Doom`s then your wife was Mrs. Doom!! lol

Did Dr. Doom ever marry? I thought he was after the Invisible Girl at one point, but I was never a Fantasic Four follower (though I watched the 1990`s cartoon with my nephew!!) lol

why bother with Valentine or escort or passport.
now cops using laser radar which are more faster than k band. I am still saving up for bell with two back and two front laser and k band detector. $1500 and up
they install those in porshe and ferrari delerships. Oh, and those thing are paked under the hood so no worry that cops will see it.

$1500?!?!! Dang thats alot. I would get a scanner, V1, X50 Passport, and laser shield/jammer. Nevertheless I`m to young now for a big ticket so i just drive smart. You gotta use your eyes and brakes. Just be smart!
