    3M Imperial Hand Glaze

I just received a bottle of 3M Imperial Hand Glaze that Natty so generously sent me. Meg`s #7 and Vanilla Moose are the only glazes I`ve used. Any tips on how to get the best results from this product? Thanx Natty. You made my weekend. Between you and awd330 this is like Christmas!

I had no luck with IHG. Smears like crazy and after buffing like a madman, I saw no improvements in the finish. I`m loving Vanilla Moose though. Maybe somebody`s got tips on IHG.

Boy that brings back memories :-p

IHG is a nice glaze that works well in filling light swirls and will cover micro-marring. You just have to apply it thin. It acts like other glazes, not great in humid weather. Just like Megs #7, it skims up as you wipe it. If you use a PC, don`t over work it! It`s ment to be used by hand and wiped off lightly.

Make sure you shake it well!

    Here`s a quick description from 3M:
Non-silicone, non-wax hand glaze. It is used by hand to refine and fill swirl marks after machine glazing. This product has been formulated to work on all colors and can be painted over.
Enjoy the IHG! Nice of Natty to give you the IHG

Wow, I want a friend like Natty

Here`s the way I use it.... I prefer to use baby diapers for this one, they seem to me to work the best with this fine of a glaze (not the disposable type)
    • apply to one side of a diaper sparingly and massage into about a 2 square foot section of the paint in a circlular motion with a flat hand letting the product do the work
    • with another diaper, buff the product off before it completly dries -- again using a flat hand, this time though work front to back with light pressure. It might take a few passes to remove.
    • repeat above steps in overlapping sections working all the way around the vehicle
    • on a real smooth finish, many times IHG will haze up or seem to fog (kinda like a stemy window) a few minutes after applying -- cure this with a little final inspection misted on a diaper

IMO - IHG is the cream-de-la crem of hand glazes -- and it ain`t cheap!!

Thanx dr. I`ll give this method a shot. Have you tried Meg`s #7, Vanilla Moose or One Grand Omega Glaze?

#7 yes.... the others not yet. IMO #7 is harder to work with than IHG and the final results are about the same.

A note about baby diapers -- Ever since Tidy Didee (the nations oldest diaper delivery service) went out of business, dipers have become kinda scarse. There is a huge difference between the type of diapers that are available through a diaper service and those they sell at places like Wally World. The ones they sell at stores are constructed not only of a different type of cotton material, but they are not as thick, soft, absorbent, nor do they have the thick center section. For applying waxes/glazes, I like the preemie size ones, they fit better in my hand. Please let`s not turn this into a debate over which is better -- MF`s or Diapers -- Thanks
