I worked for a large Pharma company for 5 years before getting laid off and we used to print pay stubs for employees. I happened to catch what the CEO made. $23,000 +take home a week. On top of that stock options, yearly bonus, private chef, full kitchen and full bath with a jacuzzi, company limo and driver 24/7 access and private jet.
If that is not excessive then we live in a messed up country.
The job he did is just as important then what I did. Seriously you can`t drive yourself to work and make your own lunch
Do we really have to spell it out for you? Im sure you know what he meant.
What`s really sad is IF this happens people starting off at Mcdonalds, BK, Taco Bell etc. will get paid considerably more than a single E-1, E-2 & E-3 who has just enlisted in the military...
Don`t you just love it?

I am truly sorry for your situation, it`s gotta be tough.
Every job is important. That said, responsibility is the differentiating point here. The ceo, is responsible for millions of dollars in and millions of dollars out. As well as responsible to the stock holders, employees and patients/recipiants of the meds the company produces.

Yep, we need a higher minimum wage

If you want more, work for it. There are plenty of jobs an nepotism to go around. If you cant find a job, you need to work on your social skills first.
My family came from nothing, they never complained. As my grand father used to say, quit whining and just do it. Excuses are for those who have no mental backbone.

lol, my dad used to make me throw away anything that wasn`t third place or better. It didn`t make much sense to me as a young child, but later on I realized what he was trying to do.
Basic flow chart that society as a whole seems to have forgotten about (or at least a largely growing cohort has)
Competition -> Innovation -> Achievement
*implicit in here lies no sense of entitlement, just work ethic and the will to better ones self.
Innovation can also be by means of deviant behavior (Robert K. Merton) such as selling drugs, other crime, etc. A lot of people chose this route due to whatever reason they want to claim. Maybe they got tired of minimum wage (or felt they were above a `remedial` job) and didn`t have the drive to better themselves through hard work, and chose the easy way out, who knows.
So yea there is this whole idea of Life Chances (Max Weber) , but still, anyone has the opportunity to at least improve their situation if they want it badly enough.
You can make an excuse for Anything, just listen to a politician speak, or think of that friend everyone probbly has that`s always complaining about everything and making excuses for his/her misfortunes. You know we all have at least one. But who has the friend who finally stopped complaining, making excuses, and got off their butt and did something to make their lives better...because if you have had that friend, I`d bet you enjoyed seeing that change.
Anyways, I am not against someone making 15/hr for flipping burgers or whatever, but they had better be dang good at doing that job. I guess I`m just too much of a structural functionalist at heart and feel that task specialization is a very overlooked aspect of an industrially advanced nation/society. Should it be the minimum, HECK NO! I would even argue that a standardized minimum wage is unfair and those workers who perform poorly should potentially be paid less.
I really think the people who are protesting for this increased minimum wage should divert that energy towards a more productive protest (granted they could idealize such a different protest). I was given a whole lot growing up, didn`t appreciate any of it. I didn`t start to appreciate anything until I had to work my butt off to keep it or earn it. So maybe at 30 I`m `old school`, but I`d like to think that`s how it should be.
Entitlement is the killer of all things productive.
as someone already said (and I really liked)
We are all doomed.
