Customer: (on the phone) "I was referred to you by XXXXXX. What are your prices?"
Me: "It really depends on what you are looking for. My prices start at $$$$ for a full detail."
Customer: "Wow! Such-and-such place only charges $$ for a full detail."
Me: "When you asked XXXXXX for a referral for a detailer did you ask him for a good detailer or a cheap detailer?"
Customer: "A good one."
Me: "Okay. I have openings for the week after next. Would you like to set an appointment?"
Customer: "You don`t have anything in the next couple of days? Such-and-such place can do it tomorrow."
Me: "So would you like to set an appointment for 2 weeks from now for me to fix their detail?"
. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .
In my head: "Well, yeah. When you spend 2-3 hours per car you can do 3-4 per day, and even more when you have minimum wage employees doing the work. Don`t ask for a good detailer when what you really want is a cheap or fast detailer. They are mutually exclusive concepts. If you start your Google search with cheap or fast my name won`t come up."
