I find it hard to believe that a brand new car was turned away from a dealership in this condition.

That paint has a lot more abuse than what could be caused in 600 or so miles. Even with rotary buffer trails it wouldn`t look this bad.

I think there is more to this story than just someone with a buffer going after this car.

I should also add that this is not a 2012 3 series, the trunk lid is much different than what`s pictured here. Looks more to the 2008 to 2010 body line to me.

I`ve done a brand new Black Camaro that the client told the dealership DO NOT WASH when it arrives.
Even with his "talk with the manager" when I received that vehicle it looked like it was washed with 80 grit.
It had less than 50 miles on it when I got it and it still took me almost 30 hours to correct the paint.
He had just paid 45,000+ cash for the car and the paint was in horrible "swirled out" condition.

More of my point is this is not a 2012 car, the trunk line is that of the previous body style 2006 or 08 to 2010 when they changed the body. That`s why I said there is more to this story about the condition of the paint, at least for me it seems that way.

I know it only has 600 miles on it and he bought it yesterday . I`ll get ya an update later today. And have you ever walked around a dealer ship and looked at the new cars? When they pull the plastics alot of time they use solvents to remove the glue and it dulls the paint so hack it up(I only know this because I use to be one of the dealership hacks that did this, my dad owns one it took me 2-3 years of detailing before I knew you were suppose to polish a car after you buff it not just wax it and park it in the shade. I could never figure out what halograms were caused by and why they only showed up bad on dark cars but I was extremely cheap labor at the time so no body cared, dealership over head is insane)

Shoot a pic of the whole car, again it looks like ( not that I don`t belies you) like the previous body line to me.

I`ve been on tons of new and used car lots and know just what they do to cars.

This could be nice if you were sitting on a bank expecting a fireworks display. But not on paint. Sorry
One day I`ll get to do my own car.

Sadly, do not care about the paint finish.

I recently was looking to purchase a "new" car.
It was the manager`s "demo" car with 4,500 miles.
It was a dark grey (almost black) and was like the pics.
The hacks in the detail department ruined it.

They wanted $3x,xxx for it and it was totally covered.
I showed them before and after pics with descriptions.
I explained I liked the car but it would take me 20+ hours
At $40 per hour that`s $800 paint correction time for fix it.
If they would reduce the vehicle by that much I`d buy it.

The salesman spoke to the "manager" and he didn`t care!
It`s buy/sell a product to them. They don`t care about you!
You would think that spending that kinda money they`d care.

The manager refused my offer and said "You buy it, you fix it."
Two days later they sold the car in the exact same condition.
The unsuspecting buyer (like most folks) didn`t see the issues.

It wasn`t a Beemer but I believe ALL have the same attitude.
Just like your friend, if the buyer doesn`t catch it before, they don`t care!
The "best" the may offer him is for them to detail the vehicle.
This will be done by the same hacks that trashed the paint in the first place.

Basic Rule: NEVER let a dealership touch your paint. No wash, No Wax & No Detail.
I have done quite a few cars (some with less than 50 miles) that trashed.
I was once was one of these fools, I bought a Acura, with less than 12k miles. The car looked brand new. The inside was flawless, driven by a older couple.
Driven by a older couple who loved getting their car washed at non touch free washes. My paint looked just like the one OP has of the beemer. THen I discovered ACC, and spent lots of money and run down everytime a rain drop hits my car with a bottle of waterless wash and clean cobra MF... Wife thinks I am crazy....
