    The Cancellation Department, Please!!!

    Yesterday I was on the war path to get my TV, phone (office line and DSL) and Net monthly services lowered. I have Direct TV and AT&T for one land line and Net service.

    Total was $260. a month on the average. I called in and asked for the cancellation department (really I pushed buttons until I got there) When I was finally able to speak with someone. I told them that I was canceling the service based on an offer from another provider that was much less than what I was paying.

    In both cases I was able to lower the monthly by 50%, no changes to the service. In fact with the net connection I was able to upgrade to a higher speed connection.


    I passed this to the VP of Sales for one of the companies I rep for, he did the same with his provider and saved close to 700 bucks a year doing the same.

    Might work for you

    Where I live we only have one provider that has DSL all others are dial up so I`m screwed just have to pay.

    What gets me is the extra charges different types of surcharges add up to
    $58.00 per month plus the phone and DSL bill

    I feel for you BB. It never hurts IMO to call and see and ask to review your plan. What I found yesterday is I had three movie channels I didn`t even know I had, and didn`t` watch. That was almost 40 bucks a month in itself.

    Yeah, definitely killing movie stations is a savings. I`m waiting for AT&T to over more services in my area, maybe I can really trim my bill.

    Bill, I bet if you called any of your providers and tried to cancel the service they would drop the rates. Its way to competitive for them not to. I didn`t even offer up who the other provider was.

    My cousin calls and gets on the promotions the DSL company offers. Once the promotion is up he will call in and they always give him the new one. So far I haven`t needed to do it but next year I will be

    I`ve been with AT&T for cell service since the early 90`s it wasn`t AT&T at the time Cell One is what I think it was.

    I remained with them on Net and Phone connection for the house. I have had no issues with the service or monthly amounts, except every so often you have to review the plan to make sure you can do better.

    You know, once you`re hooked up, it costs them pretty close to nothing to provide the feed. That`s a profit rich business. Well, next to detailing.

    I remember the first cell service. Cellular One? And the phones were as big as a loaf of bread.

    Just be prepared for them to say "OK, we`ll send someone out to pick up the equipment."

    I had a friend who tried that trick one time and he ended up shopping for new service afterward. Ended up paying *more* than he did when he started.

    I would be floored for a company to just lay down and cut the services. Unless they where not in good standings with the company. They are in the business to keep customers not loose them
