Ok I think that we have had the nicest, the fastest, and sleeper cars. So in that spirit how about your worst or ugliest car (come on we have all had one). Mine was a 1980 Pontiac Phoenix hubcaps and all. I needed a cheap car to drive to college in the northern winters that I did not care much about because it was going to get banged up in the parking lots. The first time I changed the oil it came out like maple syrup on a cold winter morning. I guess the previous owner did not believe in oil changes. The best thing is that I bought it for a $1000 drove it for a couple years and sold it for $800 and it never gave me a bit of trouble. I hate to say it but I only washed it twice and the second time was before I sold it. That is sure out of character for me.

Worst car I ever owned was a Dodge Intrepid. It was the first year they came out... (can`t remember the year).

I couldn`t drive around the block without something going wrong with that car!!!! I had it for 11 miserable months.

Got a use Fairlady Z in Japan when I was station there and it just kept breaking down every 2 weeks and cost alot to fix, glad I was there for 6 months only.

I love beaters, I`m currently have my eye on a 92-F150 with dents down both sides. Just waiting for the price to drop another $300 and its all mine :drool5:

Had a 55 chev 4 door that I paid $35.00 dollars for back about 67 0r 68. A 6cyl automatic dog that I drove for a summer and when it quit on me on Main St in Speedway In I pulled over to the curb,removed the plate and never looked back.

`82 Escort Wagon, 4sp manual with no power steering! Handed down to me from my mom. Not a bad runner but it sure was ugly. Took my drivers test in this bad boy and had it for about 6 months before buying my first car!

You can just see the back end of it in the upper right corner of this pic....tail gait was all rusted, along with the rest of the car!

Worst and evolved into the ugliest, a 1989 Plymouth Voyager, purchased new. It started out as a good looking vehicle which was going to easily transport our growing young family. A two-tone, silver/blue with dark blue lower trim ala the Dallas Cowboys. The interior was well laid out and made a perfect vehicle for our annual vacations, packing family and all of our food clothing and hobby gear for the week. But that was the end of the good...The bad, the vehicle left us mysteriously (un diagnosed) stranded several times while still under warranty. The once really nice looking silver/blue paint began to peel at the leading edges of the hood and roofline, there was no factory or dealer support. By 100k, the transmission was shot to the point that the tranny shop said it wasn`t even worth re-building. And the Mitsubishi 6 was smoking which led to $$$ engine work. After spending a lot of maintenance and repair money at 7 years and 150k miles it was traded in on a new 1996 Volvo 850 GLT which at almost 180k is still in the fleet.

Over the years we have averaged 7 years ownership of our vehicles with the exception of a `78 Datsu 620 p/u (25 years) and the Volvo (13 years). We keep our vehicles maintained on schedules which meet or exceed factory specifications.

My worst car was between not 1 but 2 cars. So its basically a tie. My very first was a 92 Buick Riviera! I could go forever on a tank of gas, but the worst part was the stupid speedo kept going on and off. So i had to guess my speed and their was one fender that was sorta off color to. :banghead:

My second worst car was a 02 Pontiac Grand Am. It was a beautiful teal color, problem was, I had swirl marks every were. A tree fell on the car fortunately it was the back end of the car, just the bumper and spoiler got cracked, and it started whenever it felt like it.

Thank God i have my dads 04 Mountaineer, not a thing wrong with it. My first good vehicle. :thumbup:

When I turned 16 in late 81 my dad got me a 1977 plymouth volare station wagon. It was a power company fleet vehicle w/ 102k miles. Dad had it painted brown at Earl Schieb to cover the ugly shade of tan. I think it had a 318 in it. It did have the "playa" feature of folding down rear seats. :thumbup:

When I was 25, my dad had a buddy who found me a 86 mazda 626 2 door at a dealers auction for $2k w/ 100k miles.

I was driving it from the Pittsburgh area to Atlanta via Cincinatti and the motor blew a pistion out the side in the middle of nowhere, OH. :w00t:

I got a ride back to the local town from a nice trooper, had it towed to town. My dad had it picked up and installed one of those engines from Japan that would not pass emissions. It ran for a few years before I got rid of it.

Mine was a 1989 Plymouth Sundance handed down to me by my stepdad. He never changed the oil on that little turbo 4 banger and eventually it cracked a ball bearing so that it would puff white smoke at lights... not a little bit but engulf the whole car. Then the A/C went out.. which is a beast to get through in Central Texas heat. The driver`s side window wouldnt go down - adding to the heat factor. I spent the good majority of my graduation money on getting the AC fixed only to have it break again and the mechanic claimed it wasnt his fault. The passenger side door on it fell off once. And I used to wash it with laundry detergent and a foam sponge

. Did I mention that I had a back tire that constantly went flat for no reason at all? And the turbo that made it oh-so-cool stopped working so when you hit the gas hard it was like riding a horse. The only cool thing about that car was a Pioneer stereo and some 6x9`s.

I had a 1980 Chevy Citation with a V-6 engine (same as Phoenix). It had a vibration the dealers could never fix. I think it was really the torque converter but never could prove it. The interior faded from brown to pink and dash cracked but it was great for hauling since it was a hatchback with a fold down rear seats. It had a variety issues but I really liked the 2,8 l V-6. I have not owned a GM myself since then. I still have horrors of dealing with the dealer service department. It drove well in the snow/ice..much better than my Chrysler LeBaron GTS.

My first car ....a Ford Courier mini pickup. Don`t remember the year, think 77? It was literally an old man`s truck with the aluminum camper shell w/ crank out windows on the side. I thought I was Ivan Stewart so I put white wagon wheels and all terrain tires on it and took it out to baja in the gravel pit...... proceeded to do $500 worth of damage to my $1000 truck the first week I had it. Then got in a minor fender bender and had the front driver`s fender ripped off. I left it that way, kinda looked like a street rod on that side with the exposed front wheel, which when it rained just shot water on the windshield like a garden hose. Then the wipers quit working and I rigged a rope tied to the wipers and back through the cab in a big loop. I would slide the rope back and forth to make the wipers go!! I have pics of almost every car I ever owned but that one, that must mean something.

The Great "X" Car!!! I had almost forgotten about those. That was going to be the "world changing" vehicle for GM!!! I managed to avoid that one!

Actually it did change GM because it introduced front wheel drive. It just needed some refining.
