Re: Is Detailing An Ego Thing????

I don`t have an ego anymore, since I abdecated my throne.

Egos get involved in everything.....some want to know it all, some want to tell everyone they know it all even if they do not.

I must be the odd man out. Its not important to me to have the best looking paint or post pictures of my detailing work. I`m just car crazy and like doing everthing connected with the car hobby. You can never learn too much and should be willing to share that knowledge with others. From building to repairing them and passing along what I learn to the younger generation that are eager to learn is very rewarding to me. I`m not knocking those that post a lot of pictures of their details , it`s just not me.

Re: Is Detailing An Ego Thing????

I feel like the ego thing starts when somebody uses a different method than you. I think it is a big thing with detailers because we all have our own procedure when we do a car. When someone else does something different the initial reaction is "Why?" I believe we all think our own methods are the best way to go, and that is where the whole ego thing starts. I don`t think it has much to do with the products as long as you aren`t using all Wal-Mart stuff..

Well being that i sucked at sports and grades were so so and im loosing my hair and i am a fat boy, this is the one spot I can have a ego..i guess. The biggest of all was about a month ago having a large detail shop( not a car wash) bring me a interior they could not get clean enough. Take pride in whatever it is you do.
