What Digital Camera do you own

I`m looking at new digital cameras what do you have and what do you like or dislike about it.
One model that I`m considering is the new Fuji S1500fld SLR
I`m not looking for prize wining photos just a good picture and something easy to use.
That is why it must be a point and shoot.

For good stuff I have a Rebel xsi.
For everday stuff, carry, kill, and car shots, I normally have an Olympus 1030sw. This cam is drop proof, cursh proof, freeze proof (all to certain limits), and waterproof to 30 ft. It does a decent job, I don`t have to worry about it and the batt life is absolutely incredible.
Formerly the "Best Detailer", now just Super Wax Waster Man. Not necessarily tactful, but normally right. It`s good to be da King !!!

I did a search and came up with this one is it what you have.
The Canon EOS450DXSiBLKKIT1 EOS 450D Digital Rebel XSi Package 1 MSRP $1195.00 can be bought for $609.00

I think the Canon SX10S (not an SLR) is a good general all purpose camera. It is a super zoom and has great reviews, etc.

That`s the one. I think thats a decent price. I bought a 18-300 lens, and that`s expensive. The 2 lenses that come with it, should be more than sufficient.

Have you ever looked at the spec sheet on the FUJI S1500
it looks good for the money also.
The one I have now is a SVP point and shoot and it has no manual and it took good pictures for awhile but now everything is overexposed.
I`m not going to spend any money trying to fix the P.O.S.
I found a web site that has the Cannon 450D for $209.00 camera only. MSRP is $999.00

I have a Olympus LM1 35mm SLR that I have had for years.
It is old but still takes excellent photos.

I took some photos that I took with it and had them digitized but over time that would pay for a digital camera.
Their are several excellent digital cameras on the market and it is hard to decide what to buy.

I found a web site that explains all the technical part of them. I really did not want to learn that much about them but feel like that is the only way I can make an Intelligent choice.

As long as it doesn`t lead to information overload.
As I said, I love my phd (push here dummy) Olympus stylus.

I agree mine takes OK pics but its limited in its abilities, such as some lighting mainly outdoor bright shooting cars

Scenery type of shots turn out so, so...I can say that I am overall OK with the camera, but really want to get a SLR cam on the next one.

One feature that I would make sure your selection has is view finder for shooting threw...not the LSD type of view screen on the back of the camera.

Mine camera you can only look threw the screen on the back and in most all out door lights you cannot see what you are taking pics of

My current camera only has the LCD screen but it works ok unless you are in really bright sun.

This is why I wanted to get peoples opinion on what they owned.
The info like you mention is things to consider..
My next camera I want a see through view finder and a manual setting.
A lot of them do not have a manual and if you get in a situation where the auto focus won`t work right if you don`t have a manual setting you are screwed.

    .
That leaves the Oly stylus out.

Rebel XT and the 1d mark IIN both from canon.

I`d stay away from video in camera for an SLR the mic is so small and not directional..

nikon and canon has cameras whith that also

I`d go with a canon 40D or 50D...Much nicer then the Rebel style

Re: What Digital Camera do you own

Black Bart, are you looking for a point and shoot or an DSLR? If you want a good DSLR, the Nikon D5000 got a great review from dpreview. If ever plan to actual use the camera in non-push the button mode, you really need to try how each work. I have a Nikon (was a long time Canon fan) and recently played with a Canon DSLR and the Nikon`s controls to change basic stuff (ISO, aperture, shutter) etc usually took one action -- not two. Canon is known for great optics but I think Nikon`s are a bit better in ease of use and better high ISO performance.

But spec wise, Canon always wins with most megapixels and features for the cost.
