These Gas Prices Keep Going Up

And I`m going to start looking a scooter of some sort....its not like I drive a lot but this last weekend I filled up the BMW to the top...something that I have not done in a while and it $60...where it use to be less than half that.

So in order to fight back I can get a scooter that gets a million miles to the gallon to get around town and do errands.

It took forever to get the price back below 3 bucks and that lasted a few months, then BANG! over night its back up above 3 bucks again....the station at the corner from where I live you can practically see them change by the hour..thanks for the rant!

$60 is all it takes? The F250 uses than much before lunch.......lol

Filled the F250 today $100.00 that is at $3.36 a gallon.Diesel alone has jumped from $2.79 to $3.36 in just 3 weeks. The up side is I`m geting 18.9mpg without the pressure washing rig and 15.3mpg with it.Still a lot better than when I was using the Expedition as a tow vehicle.

What I don`t understand is my local station, will change two times in one day..and that can happen three to four times a week....I was under the impression that once they made a buy then that`s when the price changed depending on what they had to pay...I know this station get gas two times a week...so are the going up in price to meet the local averages? either way it doesn`t sit with me very well

We have a gas station around here that offers premium for the price of regular on every Tuesday. I`m there every week filling up my tank. I figure it`s worth it when I`m saving around 30 cents a gallon.

Well luckily for me the Murano takes premium...oh wait...that sucks...premium here is around 3.40...

    Glad my job moved closer...

I do not know this as fact Beemerboy but it would be my guess that when the station in your area changes two times a day it is to go higher. When it only changes once a day it will go higher or lower. When it goes higher twice in two days the station manager calls it forward pricing. When it takes days to change it lower it is called GREED!

Re: These Gas Prices Keep Going Up

This was sent to me by a circle of friends, she works in the petroluem biz......not sure how much of this I can take to heart but it makes sence, in many ways

PAY ATTENTION.....THIS IS REAL GOOD ADVICE

TIPS ON PUMPING GAS --GOOD INFO!

I don`t know what you guys are paying for gasoline....Here in California we are also paying higher, up to $3.50 per gallon. But my line of work is in petroleum for about 31 years now, so here are some tricks to get more of your money`s worth for every gallon .

Here at the Kinder Morgan Pipeline where I work in San Jose , CA we deliver
    >about 4 million gallons in a 24-hour period thru the pipeline. One day is
    >diesel the next day is jet fuel, and gasoline, regular and premium grades.
    >We have 34-storage tanks here with a total capacity of 16,800,000 gallons.
    >
    >Only buy or fill up your car or truck in the early morning when the ground
    >temperature is still cold. Remember that all service stations have their
    >storage tanks buried below ground. The colder the ground the more dense
    >the
    >gasoline, when it gets warmer gasoline expands, so buying in the afternoon
    >or in the evening....your gallon is not exactly a gallon. In the petroleum
    >business, the specific gravity and the temperature of the gasoline, diesel
    >and jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products plays an important role.
    >A 1-degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business. But the
    >service stations do not have temperature compensation at the pumps.
    >
    >When you`re filling up do not squeeze the trigger of the nozzle to a fast
    >mode. If you look you will see that the trigger has three (3) stages: low,
    >middle, and high. In slow mode you s hould be pumping on low speed, thereby
    >minimizing the vapors that are created while you are pumping. All hoses at
    >the pump have a vapor return. If you are pumping on the fast rate, some of
    >the liquid that goes to your tank becomes vapor. Those vapors are being
    >sucked up and back into the underground storage tank so you`re getting less
    >worth for your money.
    >
    >One of the most important tips is to fill up when your gas tank is HALF
    >FULL or HALF EMPTY. The reason for this is, the more gas you have in your tank
    >the less air occupying its empty space. Gasoline evaporates faster than you can imagine. Gasoline storage tanks have an internal floating roof. This
roof serves as zero clearance between the gas and the atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation. Unlike service stations, here where I work, every truck that we load is temperature compensated so that every gallon is actually the exact amount.

Another reminder. If there is a gasoline truck pumping into the storage tanks when you stop to buy gas, DO NOT fill up--most likely the gasoline
is being stirred up as the gas is being delivered, and you might pick up some of the dirt that normally settles on the bottom.

Hope this will help you get the most value for your money.

$3.79 today for premium at the Chevron near my house. I got my credit card eBill from Chevron a few days ago. I spent $60 on gasoline last month. I drive a Prius.

Just to annoy people, when I fill up I say things loud enough for others to hear like, "Damn, I can`t believe how much gas is. If this keeps up I`m going to be spending $20 a month on gas. This is outrageous!"

I don`t even know you and I`m mad at you...just kidding!

I did read that when it comes time to replace the batteries in that car they will make up for any savings that you are currently enjoying

Having said that it must be nice to not be spending the big bucks at the pump
